RL is ehh. The situation at work is a bit better, but health wise – grrr... Perimenopause sucks. And my left arm still isn’t in a perfect condition. At least painkillers aren’t needed for now, so that’s good.

But my fannish life is great. Fanfic writing goes well. I wrote almost 4000 words of Big Dragon mafia AU. Yeah, I don’t know why either. 😉 But I have fun writing it. It’s not finished yet, it needs at least another 4000 words for that, I think, so wish me luck.

And I have two dramas that are my comfort shows right now: sageuk The Secret Romantic Guesthouse and Thai BL A Boss And A Babe. I love both so much and suffer when I have to wait a week for the new episode. 😊

Speaking of Thai BLs the one I’m waiting for the most right now is Our Skyy 2. This is GMMTV’s anthology series that continues the stories of characters from eight other BL dramas: Tian and Phupha (A Tale of Thousand Stars), Pran and Pat (Bad Buddy), Khabkluen and Daonuea (Star and Sky: Star in My Mind), Nuengdiao and Palm (Never Let me Go), Cher and Gun (A Boss and a Babe), Talay and Puen (Vice Versa), Akk and Ayan (The Eclipse), and Tinn and Gun (My School President).

Each drama will have two episodes. And as far as I can tell these are not normal, realistic continuations. I watched only one episode from the first Our Skyy drama – the one about Pick and Rome from Puppy Honey. And that was a bodyswap story. The first two episodes of Our Skyy 2 are about Palm and Nueng from Never Let Me Go and judging by this short trailer there is time travel and a historical romance with role reversal here.

And here are two general trailers for the whole drama.

It starts airing the next week on April 19th.

Our Skyy sounds like a really cool concept. I don't think I had heard of it before, but LITA remains the only Thai BL I have seen so far. I want to watch more of them, but I also dedicate a lot of time to k-drama to practice my listening skills. (I need to sleep less. lol)

And I've seen six of these eight dramas. And what's most surprising I liked all of them. That's why I'm so excited for Our Skyy. More of my favorite characters? Yes, please. :D

Ah, looks like the Our Skyy anthologies are just another way to promote actor pairings they're hoping to use in future shows... not that there's anything wrong with that! :D

I keep considering watching Big Dragon and then shying away from it based on the way a mate described it to me.

I'm excited for Our Skyy because I've seen six of those eight dramas, and I liked all of them. Some less, some more, but still it will be wonderful to see all these characters again.

As for Big Dragon - I can't really recommend it with clear conscience. It's not good, but sometimes something grabs you fannishly when you don't really expect it. The heart wants what it wants. :)

I would be excited too and I still have a lot of Thai BL dramas to watch - they tend to run much longer than other countries BL series so it's a case of finding the time to watch them.

The thing that put me off Big Dragon was I heard it was 'a bit rapey' as they say about some BLs. I know people adore KinnPorsche but I tried and it was not for me.

I've been told I have a very odd line in my tolerance for violence/sexual assault in that it's difficult for me to articulate what it is exactly and when I can deal with it being pushed, but I do have one.

There are absolutely consent issues in Big Dragon, just as there are consent issues in KinnPorsche. But I can accept these things in BL (and it's still on a case-by-case basis) if the drama doesn't pretend that those consent issues aren't there. A lot of early BL dramas are all "consent issues? what consent issues?" and "sexual assault? what sexual assault?", and try to insist that it's all romantic and stuff like that. Both Big Dragon and KinnPorsche never do that, so I can watch and love them. But I absolutely understand that it can be too much for other people. Everybody's lines are different.

I totally understand what you mean about them being questioned - that's my single biggest issue with TT, as you read, because they're not questioned.

MG, who's been with the firm (*g*) for a long time, says he can never call where my line falls because to him it seems very inconsistent. I've refused point blank to continue to watch shows like Game of Thrones but watched Happy which should NOT be watched by anyone ever, take my word for it. I would say, overall, I can tolerate violence much easier than sexual assault.

My offline friend who loves Thai dramas says if I can make it past the first episode of Big Dragon, I'll be okay with the rest of it. So...without spoilers/specific examples, if you please, I'd like to get a second opinion on that. Do the consent issues continue past the first episode, yay or nay? IF they do, is it a fade-away type of thing?

In case you're wondering, I'm asking because I share so few fandom loves with mates and it would be nice to have more.

Ok, I'll try to present my opinion without spoilers. :) I think I agree that if you'll get through the 1st episode you'll be ok with the rest. There is one short scene in the 3rd episode, but it's very different from the thing that happened in the 1st episode, it's just hard to explain why without spoilers. :) What I wrote before about Big Dragon is that the first three episodes hinted at the darker and kinkier show, but since episode 4 it turned into a fluffy vanilla rom-com. It was a bit of a surprise for me, but I still loved it. Just be prepared that it's really not very good when it comes to script, or even acting sometimes. But the leads have very nice chemistry IMO if that's the things that matters to you. :)

As to 'quality' of the show, remember I fly my fandom of one flag for The Silent Criminal so I don't have a 'quality leg' to stand on. ;D

It's always lovely of course when you can make an objective argument for the quality of something you're in the fandom for, like Life on Mars (UK) for me, but there are a lot of shows that I admire the hell out of and recommend to everyone based on their high quality without having the faintest stirring of fandom in me. Let's say it together: The heart wants what it wants!

Oh that's really cool! I've only seen two, and I didn't know they belonged to the same production company (or whatever their connection is, I didn't really get it?).

Yes, all the dramas were made by the same company GMMTV. A lot of these actors know each other and they worked together in the past, in other dramas, or stuff like variety shows - GMMTV makes a lot of those, too.
