I still didn’t have time to re-watch episode 7 properly on my laptop, because I came back from Warsaw earlier today just in time to watch episode 8. So here have my impressions for episode 7 written yesterday after watching. And my fresh reaction to episode 8. Be warned – it’s mostly screaming and crying. 😉
Episode 7
Ouch, my heart. It is a cdrama, all right.
My poor, poor Xiaobao... That was the worst birthday ever. His family got destroyed, he got tortured, and he’s convinced his beloved betrayed him and left him to die. And he still tries to reach out to him even when he’s out of his mind from pain.
And my poor little meow meow Huaien… Of course what gives him strength to break up his chains is his obsessive love and his possessive jealousy over Xiaobao. As soon as he heard that Xiaobao was with Su Yin those chains didn’t stand the chance. 😉
And the way Huaien screamed when he woke up in chains again and realized that this time he couldn’t get out of them to go to Xiaobao. There was so much pain on his face, and his anguished scream made my heart hurt.
And Su Yin is wonderful, and I love him. He’s a good person and a good friend.
And finally, finally we meet the second half of our secondary couple – the miracle doctor Que Siming, Jinbao’s love interest. It was the great first impression. I like him already.
Episode 8
Aaaaaa!!! How can you end it here?! And now I have to wait another six days? That is unacceptable.
And Xiaobao tells himself that he hates Huaien now, my poor baby...
“That’s the last time I think of him. He’s not worth it.”
Ouch, ouch, ouch, it hurts so much. Don’t make Xiaobao suffer anymore, show, I’m begging you. I can’t stand to see tears in his pretty eyes. I want him to be happy and carefree again. Even though he can never go back to how things were before, after all this.
And our secondary couple looks promising. And they have some sort of connection, too. I think it’s a childhood connection. After all Siming recognized Jinbao’s voice before he even saw him. And Jinbao doesn’t recognize Siming at all, but he recognized the bracelet he saw in our dear doctor’s things.
And oh wow, Crown Prince Shaoyu is a spoiled brat. Xiaobao was spoiled, too, but he was also kind, sweet, and caring. Shaoyu is arrogant and selfish. He can disappear for all I care. I really hope him and Su Yin aren’t the endgame third couple. Su Yin deserves better.
And OMG that last scene... They are both finally in one place again. And Huaien is wearing his matching hairpin Xiaobao gave him. 😍
I’m sure Huaien has a secret plan how to outsmart his asshole father, but will it succeed? At the same time there are only four episodes left. Not that much time for solving all the problems before a happy ending. Apparently the novel has a happy ending, so I hope the drama does, too. I want that wedding. 😊

So much angst, so much suffering. My heart was stomped upon and everything hurts. And I’m eating it up with a spoon. 😊My poor, poor Xiaobao... That was the worst birthday ever. Spoilers here, too.
Yes, they have a connection (like a cultivation connection, maybe, I’m not sure, I don’t watch a lot of wuxia dramas) – Huaien feels when Xiaobao is in pain. And Xiaobao tells himself that he hates Huaien now, my poor baby...
