My short review - I liked it.

A bit longer review, with spoilers, is here.I love Prim, even though I shake my head over her pretending, and badly, that she doesn’t care about her ex. She so cares. She still has feelings for Bambi.

For now Bambi irritates me. She spoiled and immature, and tramples all over Prim’s boundaries, not that those boundaries are very strong, but still. She’s like Ray from Only Friends for me. Only less self-destructive. I think.

I love Sasha. Milk is gorgeous and Sasha is such a cool character. And Love is good as Gorya, and she has great chemistry with both Milk and Namtan. I hope Love and Namtan will kiss at least once. Please, give it to me, show. 😊

View is so beautiful, but her and Mim’s storyline is the least interesting to me. But it’s just the 1st episode, so who knows I might change my mind later.

Elbow still hurts. Physiotherapy helps, but I definitely need more of it before my elbow is fine again. Just writing this post took me three days. Apart from that things are pretty good in RL. And spring is already here with a lot of sunshine and an ability to finally wear a thinner jacket. 😊

I finished:

Melody of Secrets

It wasn’t bad, but in general rather mediocre. There were a few lovely scenes, but if not for my love for ForceBook I would probably drop it somewhere in the middle. But I love them both, they’re good actors and their chemistry always delivers. I’ll gladly re-watch it in a year or two, and I think it might even benefit from not waiting a week between each episode.

Dare You to Death

I did watch all of it, but that one was so, so bad. I would still recommend Melody of Secrets to someone looking for crime + mystery + amnesia BL, but this drama, no. I absolutely wouldn’t rec it. Bad script, bad directing and very poor tone balancing. They really should have chosen if they wanted the show to be a gritty crime drama with a lot of horrific, graphic deaths, or romance with classic romcom elements, and suitable sound effects and lighting. These two parts didn’t mesh at all.

And I’m sorry, Dunk, you’re a gorgeous boy, but you’re not a good actor. And Joong couldn’t carry such a bad script all by himself. But their chemistry is still there, so you know – all the flirting and kissing was enjoyable to watch. And I liked Aou and Boom in their small supporting parts.

The Art of Sarah

That was a fascinating watch, even though IMO it fell apart a bit at the end. But Shin Hae Sun was amazing, mesmerizing and charismatic.

Dramabeans review is good (and spoilery) if you would like to know more.

The Night Manager

I watched the 2nd season last week. I enjoyed it a lot. Except one thing, which I really disliked. The reasons for both are spoilery, so they go behind then cut.

[personal profile] selenak wrote a good review here. I agree with all of it.

Read more. It’s always a pleasure to see two such wonderful actors like Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie going head to head. And I didn’t read any spoilers before watching, but after that ‘previously on’ segment at the beginning of the 1st episode I instantly knew that Roper would be back. But I don’t mind because, like I’ve said, it’s a pleasure to watch Hugh Laurie be ruthless and evil and homoerotically obsessed with Tom Hiddleston.

And I liked what they did with Teddy and Jonathan’s relationship. And I don’t even mind that Teddy died at the end. Of course I wouldn’t mind reading a fix-it fic or two. But I opened I think around 10 fics, and closed the tab after a paragraph or two every time. Because in all those fics I tried, Teddy was presented as a blameless woobie, who never did anything wrong in his life. You know, the guy we see killing innocent people on screen, they guy responsible for training kids to be soldiers. That guy. *sigh*

But what I do mind is everything they did with Angela Burr. I hate that she died. And I hate that they made her less competent and looking like for six years she didn’t care that Roper was out there killing people and doing other illegal stuff.

I dropped Our Universe (so disappointing, even super adorable kid and fantastic acting by Bae In Hyuk couldn’t make up for a bad script, a bland female lead, a very annoying SML and a very unnecessary love triangle, and a few other annoying things) and My Romance Scammer (nothing’s really wrong with it, I just got bored).

I started Love Like a Bike - another Thai BL drama that is on Netflix here. It takes place in Pattaya and it’s about three adopted brothers and their three very different romances.

The 1st episode was mostly lovely and cute (there were two scenes with traumatic backstory for two characters). And sexy, too, thanks to Ta and Us. I like them as a couple a lot, and I already feel they will be my favorites in this drama. 😊

Here is the trailer:

And I have one rec – a funny and educational vid about Korean language.

That was amazing and I love this drama already. And Aou and Boom... Damn... So, so hot. Rome and Raffy are definitely my favorites. They are messy, toxic and hot like burning together. I love them so much. And yes, they are my favorites, but Dean is not far behind them. Mix is fantastic. He’s seductive, manipulative, gorgeous and sexy. And such a smug jerk. I love him, too.

And I’m very surprised at how much I like Joss and Gawin here. I found them rather meh in My Golden Blood, which I dropped after two episodes. But here I like them.

And that’s it for now, since it’s already 10 p.m. here. Might write more tomorrow after re-watching. But I’m so pleased that it is good and very entertaining. 😍

Because my right elbow still isn’t in good shape, and every time I try to do something heavier, like writing for a long time, or baking a chocolate cake with raspberries (yum, yum but also ouch, ouch), I end up suffering later. 😊

But Candy Hearts Exchange had authors reveal, and I wanted to show off three treats I wrote.

And then Black came back from wherever he had been holed up for the last half a year. And Gram’s relatively stable life started shaking; it just took him a while to notice it.

And finally the official trailer for my most awaited GMMTV GL drama is here, and it looks so good. It starts airing on March the 9th.

RL is meh. My hip is much better, but the rest is ugh. My elbow was a bit better and then I overdid it by writing two more treats for Candy Hearts. I feel very accomplished now of course, but at what cost. *sigh* And I am now officially diagnosed with hypertension. And I have new meds, but I think my intestines don’t like them, so I have to make another appointment with my cardiologist. *sigh again*

And the weather is ugh, too – it’s dark, rainy and gloomy. All this pretty white snow that was here just a few days ago now took form of dirty, brown slush. One good thing is that last week we discovered a great new sushi place. Everything was very yummy, and we plan to eat there the next week, too.

Because of all of the reasons above, the things I did watch lately were mostly cute and fluffy, because I’m so not in the mood for anything angsty or depressing. And those cute things were:

Cat For Cash - Thai BL drama with pretty boys and talking cats, what’s not to like? 😊

My Romance Scammer - another Thai BL drama about two scammers (one who is good at what he does, and one who is really not) who fall for their marks – two cousins from a very rich family. 2 episodes aired for now and I really liked them. Junior is fantastic, and this is the first drama of the new ship OhmPoon, and I enjoy them so much here.

I Wanna Be Sup'tar - Thai GL drama about the romance between a famous and rich, but very unhappy girl and a poor girl with dreams about a big career in the entertainment industry. The 1st episode aired last week and I liked it. It’s cheesy and fun and I really like the main ship Lilly and Belle (who were the secondary ship in Harmony Secret).

Read, White & Royal Blue - I finally watched this movie yesterday, and I enjoyed it so much. It was cute, sexy, funny and touching. Alex and Henry are very adorable and hot together, and I love them to pieces. I’m so glad there will be a sequel. And I might try reading the book again, because I did try reading it a few years ago, and managed maybe 20 or 30 pages, because I found it rather bad. But that might be because I was reading a Polish translation. Will try the original this time.

Not so cute was the finale of Burnout Syndrome. It was a good drama, but I was rather disappointed with the ending. Even though I did expect an ending exactly like that. Since it is a Thai BL drama with a very popular fixed ship.

Spoilers here (and it's all complaining).Because really, they want me to, what? Cheer for Koh and Jira to be happy together? Feel sorry for Koh? I don’t feel sorry for a tech bro obsessed with AI, who still can’t understand why his lover, whom he professes to love so much, was angry at him about what he did. Koh still seems to think that this was just such a small thing and that Jira was overreacting. And he still blames everyone else for him being miserable. It’s never something he did, it’s always someone else’s fault.

And that ending felt so empty and boring to me. And I read a few opinions and some people seem to think this was not a happy ending and that viewers should wonder if Koh and Jira will stay together in the future. But to me, I think the drama does actually mean for us to believe they have a chance at a long-term relationship. It was filmed like a straightforward romance with appropriate music, and all that.

And earlier there was this song playing at one time over Jira’s image – “I will be his angel, I will be his savior”. And Pheem told Jira that Koh sold his AI interests like it’s supposed to be a good thing, and something that redeems Koh.

And don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that Koh is a monster and Jira is a blameless angel. Jira is toxic, too. And I even can believe that Koh in his own way loves Jira. But for Jira – ehhh... All I can see is sexual lust and desire to keep Koh as his Muse. Also they are both obsessed with money. After all one of Jira's first lines in the first episode is: "I'll do anything that pays". So who knows maybe they will live happily ever after. It’s just that I personally didn’t really care about that.

Last but not least – finally the official trailer for Only Friends Dream On is here. And it looks good.

Mix as a seductive manipulator, Earth looking gorgeous in glasses, my beloveds AouBoom being toxic and messy and hot as hell (that scene in the pool, wow... *fans self*), and Boston coming back to stir the pot even more. I already love it. 27th of February can’t come soon enough.

Ugh, body, can you just give me a break for a while? I was so happy that my elbow was a bit better after my physiotherapy session, but now my left hip is giving me a hard time. Google tells me that in English it’s called “greater trochanteric bursitis”. I saw a doctor and have medicine, so hopefully it will go away soon. *sigh*

Good news is that my Muse is wide awake and full of energy now. I wrote one short treat for Candy Hearts. And I started Dare You To Death Kamin/Jade fic. This is definitely not a good drama, but it is entertaining and I don’t have to think too much when I watch it.

I also love this spoiler.Aou and Boom, my beloveds, appeared unexpectedly in episode 5, appeared again in episode 6 (and wow, Boom, that was a great fighting scene, I’m impressed), and apparently they will be in the rest of the episodes, too. Yay.

And my beloved GL ship LMSY will have a new drama. Here is the pilot trailer:

It’s a romcom about a spoiled, rich city girl and a down-to-earth hardworking farm girl falling in love. With a lot of cute animals. I can't wait. 😊

I watched:

Tune in for Love

It’s a lovely movie with Kim Go Eun and Jung Hae In, and I enjoyed it a lot. They both have such sweet, beautiful smiles. 😊

Yumi’s Cells

I finished the 1st season last week. It was fine and occasionally amusing, but I would have dropped it half-way if not for my love for Kim Go Eun. I started to get very bored during the last two episodes. For now I don’t plan to watch the next two seasons.

Trigger

A decent first half, a weak second half and a very disappointing finale. Kim Nam Gil was good, but his character to me felt like a less charismatic version of Kim Hae Il from The Fiery Priest. The main villain was very hot, but less and less interesting with each episode.

And if the point of the show is that guns are awful and very dangerous, then wow does that message gets muddled by all those scenes that emotionally feel like they want viewers to admire out main hero’s perfect and beautifully choreographed shooting skills, or cheer on the abused victims who use guns to get their very their justifiable revenge, after we watched countless scenes of them being horribly abused.

And since I wanted to clean up my bookmarks a little here have six interesting trailers I watched lately – for one kdrama, one Thai BL drama, and four Thai GL dramas.

Embedded trailers are here.

And here are two wonderful 10Dance fanvids I wanted to rec.

This is Juhno’s new drama on Netflix. It’s short, just eight episodes. And my elbow still hurts and it took me two days to write this post, but I really wanted to tell you about this drama. Because it was amazing and I loved it. 😍

Junho is Kang Sang Ung, a public servant who gains a power of super strength based on the amount of cash he’s carrying. But that cash disappears after he used his power. Since he’s just an ordinary guy it becomes a big problem for him to maintain enough money to use his abilities to help people. But he has a wonderful girlfriend, Kim Min Suk, who is practical and efficient, and who always supports him. He also meets two other people with supernatural abilities - Byeon Ho In, a lawyer with the ability to pass through solid matter with the help of alcohol, and Bang Eun Mi, a telekinetic powered by calories. They start working together to protect their normal lives, and lives of ordinary citizens from villains who seek to destabilize the world.

This drama feels like subversion of superhero genre to me. Or maybe deconstruction would be a better term? Every superpower comes with a price, and often a steep price. And it has a limit you can’t cross, because you might lose your superpower. But it’s absolutely not dark and gloomy, as it might seems from that description. On the contrary, it’s optimistic, touching and uplifting. It made me smile a lot. And it made me cry twice. Once during the 6th episode and once during the finale.

Spoilers for the ending, if you want to know if it’s happy or not. It’s the happy ending. All the villains get punished, all the good guys live.

One small minus is that the villains were rather annoying to me. Hot, yes, because Kang Ha Na and Lee Chae Min are both very hot, but so annoying that I wish that they had a bit less screentime.

But Juhno is fantastic. And Kim Hye Joon as his girlfriend is wonderful. And Kim Byung Chul as a superpowered lawyer is wonderful, too.

And yes, this drama is not perfect, and the script could be better. But I was so invested in an emotional side of things that a few logistic plot holes didn’t bother me at all.

A few things that I really liked, with major spoilers.I was very impressed that Sang Ung told his girlfriend about his newly-acquired power. Despite his father telling him sternly “Keep it a secret and don’t tell anyone”. And Sang Ung nods, but later is all ‘nah, me and Min Suk don’t keep secrets from each other’. And he tells her instantly.

And I loved the friendship that developed between Sang Ung and Ho In and Eun Mi. So heartwarming.

And when the final fight between the one of the main villains and Kang Sang Ung started to drag on, I was sitting there rolling my eyes a little over predictability of this all. And then there was that moment when the villain had the upper hand and he asked “Who’s going to help you now?”, since Sang Ung used all the cash he had with him. And then all those ordinary people Sang Ung was saving started to throw money at Sang Ung through their windows, and cheering him on. And I lost it. I cried and cried. I don’t care that it was cheaply sentimental and OTT. It worked for me, it was beautiful and I loved it.

It was supposed to be a longer post, but my right elbow really hates me today. Because yesterday I suddenly decided that I really wanted to make gifs from my favorite scene in 10Dance. I wanted to make four gifs. I managed to make two, and I’m still paying the price for that lapse in judgment. Ouch, ouch, ouch...

But at least we now have a proper snowy winter here, which is nice. Won’t last for long since it’s already 0°C today. And it was -20°C on the New Year’s Eve. In the evening I went to see a free outdoor concert our city organizes every year, and it was so freezing cold that I only stayed for an hour.

And I have a few lovely comments on my Yuletide fics, but responding will have to wait till tomorrow, because my elbow is already screaming at me that it hurts.

So just one more thing – two fics I wrote for this year’s Yuletide:

ClaireBell

I admit I was a bit underwhelmed by the finale. I don’t really know why, because I generally liked what they did with it. But something in me wasn’t enjoying it as much as the previous seven episodes. Well, apart from one thing. That thing I enjoyed so much.

More with spoilers here. And that one thing was what Bell did to get Top arrested. That was very satisfying. I even said “Hell yes, you deserved it, you coward” aloud. 😊

I also liked that Dao decided to keep the baby. IMO it felt very in character for her, knowing what we know about her fraught relationship with her son. Maybe I would feel differently if she was supposed to be in prison for a very long time. But we don’t know how long she’s supposed to be in prison. As far as I remember they never mentioned that in the show. So it might be just a few years.

I also liked Deedee’s sort of redemption arc. And that she did change for the better just a bit. And her cute something with Porsche made me smile.

I also absolutely get why Claire did what she did to Kae, even if that meant prolonging her stay in prison.

Now that I think of it maybe I was a bit underwhelmed that everything was tied with a neat little bow. All the villains were appropriately punished. All the good and goodish people got their happy, or at least happyish, ending. Which was nice, but I guess I was expecting something maybe a little bit messier?

Heated Rivalry

In general I liked the show well enough. And let me repeat that I’m very glad that the show like that is so popular. And I for sure will be rewatching the 3rd episode a few more times in the future. And the ending of episode 5, of course. And Scott/Kip tag on AO3 makes me very happy, too. 😊

Minor spoilers for the finale here.Scott’s speech made me teary-eyed. And I really liked Shane’s talk with his mom after his parents found out about him and Ilya. That was very well done and very touching.

I also finally finished reading Heated Rivalry the book. It was meh for me. And I found Ilya so annoying in the book. At least in the show Connor Storrie has charisma and charm that make Ilya’s annoyingness easier to swallow for me. But yes, I don’t really care for Shane and Ilya’s romance.

I started reading Tough Guy – Game Changers book number 3. I read five chapters for now, and it’s rather meh, too. But I will give it a few more chapters. And if I won’t like it more by then I’ll drop it and try the next book in the series.

And I’m still very in love with Kim Go Eun, and I’m in the middle of the 1st season of Yumi’s Cells, which is very sweet and fluffy, and such a relaxing watch. And I started The King Eternal Monarch rewatch (two episodes for now, still as entertaining as I remembered). I’m thinking I might try Goblin again next. I found it boring the first time I tried it a few years ago, and dropped it after watching four episodes. But maybe I’ll like it better this time? 😊

And I still have a few interesting Yuletide fics to read, but I wanted to rec two fics from those I’ve read so far. First one is a perfect post-canon fix it fic for a background couple from the Thai BL drama Dangerous Romance. And the second is a sweet and lovely and very touching post-canon fic for Some Like It Hot.

So it seems I slept through the great deanoning of Yuletide, heh. Meaning that there was a glitch that revealed all the authors for a short while, soon after works reveal. I missed it, since I was too tired to read my gift right away on 24th, and didn’t even look at the Yuletide collection then.

I received a lovely and funny Meet You at the Blossom fic about my favorite threesome. This is basically Outsider POV fic even though the author didn’t tag it as such. But I love Ousider POV fics, and I enjoyed Que Siming’s sarcastic comments and Jinbao’s sweet cluelessness here a lot.

Apart from reading Yuletide fics, yesterday I watched Exhuma, that horror movie with Kim Go Eun I mentioned before. It was pretty good and Kim Go Eun was wonderful. And it was tense and gory, but goriness was on an acceptable level for me, so I didn’t even have to fast-forward.

I also started Yumi’s Cells, because I wanted something cute and fluffy after Exhuma. I watched an episode and a half, and it’s fine and amusing at times, but for now I’m not very emotionally engaged. I do plan to watch more though, because I’m still very much in my ‘in love with Kim Go Eun’ phase, and she’s so good, and sweet and pretty here.

I also watched the new episodes of Burnout Syndrome (very good) and Dare You to Death (rather meh). But wow, Joong and Dunk both look exceptionally beautiful in this drama, so for now I will be watching for this one very shallow reason. 😊

I also wanted to rec a Youtube vid with Dew, Gun, and Off’s reaction to episode 5 of Burnout Syndrome, because it’s very funny, and it made me laugh. More with the embedded vid behind the cut, because thumbnail images are spoilery for the last episode.

See it here.

I enjoyed this vid so much. From Gun commenting about his and Dew’s height difference and saying “I literally only come up to his shoulders”. To the three of them arguing about who’s the biggest red flag in this episode, and both Off and Dew saying it’s Jira, because he fools and manipulates both Koh and Pheem. And to Off first getting hilariously jealous over Dew and Gun’s romantic scenes, and then cheering Dew on during the last scene. And all three reacted to the ending of this episode the same way all the viewers reacted: “That’s it? It ends like this? That’s so mean.” 😊

Merry Christmas, everyone. 🎄 And happy Yuletide reading to those who participate in Yuletide. 😊

And here are my gifts for you – two fanvid recs. One for Sugiki Shinya/Suzuki Shinya from 10Dance, and one for Scott/Kip from Heated Rivalry. Both are lovely, hot and very spoilery.

And let me tell you that I’m super glad that Scott and Kip keep getting new fans thanks to the show. I remember looking at fics on AO3 tagged with Kip Grady/Scott Hunter, after I finished reading their book and before the 3rd episode aired. And there were only 23 fics then. Now there are over 130 fics. I can even be a little bit choosy with my fanfic reading. 😊

One more thing – uncut version of Harmony Secret is now available on Youtube. It's here if someone would maybe like to spend their holidays watching a sexy and entertaining GL drama with rivals-to-lovers romance.

My elbow hurts a bit less today, so here have a short drama watching report. Plus a very short review of one movie. 😊

The Price of Confession

It was amazing till the end. I was a tiny bit disappointed with ‘who the real murderer is’ reveal, but really just a teeny tiny bit. It didn’t detract from the amazingness of the rest of the drama. And Kim Go Eun, wow... 😍 What a fantastic actress she is. I mean I knew she was good, but here it’s like another level. I’m very impressed and so in love.

You can say Kim Go Eun is my new obsession, since after finishing this drama I instantly watched Love in the Big City (a movie with her and Steve Noh, not a drama with Nam Yoon Su). Now I plan to watch a horror movie Exhuma, and later I will either re-watch The King Eternal Monarch, or start watching You And Everything Else.

10 Dance

It was wonderful. Machida Keita and Takeuchi Ryoma have sizzling chemistry, and for my non-expert eye are very good at dancing. And they are very good at kissing, too. 😊 I will be re-watching for sure, probably more than once.

The ending seems a bit open. In the sense that it ended as if the sequel was already planned. As far as I know the manga this movie is based on is still ongoing, so here is hoping we will get a sequel in the future.

Dare You to Death

Okay, it feels so weird to watch GMMTV BL drama on Netflix instead of Youtube, heh. But that way it’s not divided into four short vids, so it’s a big plus.

After the 1st episode my opinion is this – it’s entertaining and amusing. I admit I did expect something a bit more darker and grimmer. And judging by that first episode it’s seems to have a surprisingly light, and often even humorous tone, considering the subject matter.

But the main criminal mystery is interesting enough, supporting character are played by actors I like, and both Joong and Dunk look hella fine and have great chemistry. So I do plan to watch more. And it’s nice to have a BL drama to watch on Thursdays.

Heated Rivalry

I’ve just finished watching the 5th episode. It was fine. I wish I liked Shane and Ilya (well, mainly Ilya, I like Shane well enough) and their relationship more, so I could be again in a big, thriving fandom with a lot of fics and discussions. Alas, it was not meant to be, since here I am once again falling in love with a rare pairing. 😊

More here with spoilers.I wish there was a bit more about Scott and Kip in this episode. I would be satisfied even with one or two short scenes. Because what I loved the most here was that last scene with the kiss on ice. It was wonderful.

I also really liked Shane and Rose’s talk when they break up and he comes out to her. It was very well done and very well acted. I love Rose in general, she’s a great character.

My one Yuletide treat is finished, edited and sent for beta-reading. And that’s it when it comes to Yuletide treats from me this year. Because, and this is that one not so good thing, my right elbow started hurting a lot again.

Speaking of Yuletide - my gift appeared a few days ago, and I shook it. And I can’t wait to read it. Just ten days. But I have to say that for me it’s a bit of a pity that they moved works reveal from morning on 25th to evening on 24th. Usually it was around 10 am on 25th here, and at that time I could sit down and read my gift with no interruptions, and write a proper, enthusiastic comment instantly. Now it’s around 10 pm on 24th. I will probably be able to read my gift right away. But commenting, and reading other fics, will have to wait till the next day. I usually go to sleep around 10:30 p.m., and at this time a night I certainly don’t have enough mental power for reading and commenting on fanfic, just enough for watching fluffy dramas. 😊

Another good thing is news that Thai BL drama Mandate is coming to Gagaoolala. It starts airing there on December 19th. I hope it means that more people will watch it, since it will be more easily available than before. It’s such a good drama, I wish it had a bit bigger fandom.

Dramas I chose to watch lately are good, too. Especially The Price of Confession. I’m so enthralled by this drama that I barely watched anything else the last few days. I’m especially in love with Kim Go Eun, who is absolutely amazing and beautiful, and perfect. I still have an episode and a half to watch, which I plan to do tomorrow. I will write a longer post with a lot of gushing after I watch all of it. And if my poor elbow will let me.

Burnout Syndrome episode 3

Ok, I’m fully in a DewGun camp. Sorry, Off. 😊

More with spoilers (and one a bit NSFW pic) here.Koh still annoys me a lot. And they gave him a sob story about his parents’ bankruptcy. And I don’t care, still don’t like him.

And, like I’ve said, there is a lot of red color on Pheem, too.

“Would you say it’s weird of me if I said I want his life to be even more fucked up, just so he keeps coming back to me?

Wow, Pheem, you’re not just weird, you’re fucked up and you’re an asshole. But I guess that’s why Mr “I find red flags exciting” Jira likes him. Even though for now it looks like that infatuation goes only one way, since yes, Pheem is down bad, as he himself admits. But Jira only goes to Pheem when he can’t get what he wants from Koh, and he wants a distraction.

But ahhh that interrupted make out... That brief kiss, and Pheem’s hand so high on Jira’s thigh...

That was so fricking hot, and I want more. 😍

ClaireBell episode 6

Yeah, that was what I expected. It didn’t make it less hard to watch. I even had to fast-forward a little bit, because I just couldn’t look at the screen.

More with spoilers here.I identified with Claire so much in this episode. I’m an older sister, and what Claire did I would do in a heartbeat, too. I would exchange my life for my sister’s without even a moment of hesitation. I almost cried again because it made me so emotional.

I really need a happy ending for this drama. I hope both Bell and Claire will be released from prison. And it seems that this is what will happen. I think the creepy teacher’s sister will find out what her brother did to Cream. She now has Cream’s phone. And if I’m no mistaken they showed that Cream’s phone was recording when the teacher assaulted her. I can’t check it to be sure, because I’m not watching that scene ever again.

In kdrama news I dropped Moon River. I enjoyed it for the first six episodes, it was amusing and entertaining, but when the bodyswap ended the plot started being really convoluted and ridiculous, and not in a good way. And I lost interest very quickly. It took me three days to watch the 8th episode, and after that I decided that I don’t care at all what happens next.

But two other kdramas made it up to me for that disappointment. One of them is Dynamite Kiss that I only started watching because I read that my beloved Nam Goong Min will have a cameo in one episode. I watched two episodes and I liked them a lot. It’s lovely, funny, and mostly fluffy and I can watch it in the evening.

Because I definitely can’t watch a second kdrama in the evening. I’m talking about The Price of Confession – that dark thriller, which trailer I posted about a month ago. I started it two days ago and I’ve already watched four episodes. It’s very good. Very dark and intense (and a bit too gory for me sometimes, so twice I had to close my eyes for a moment or two), and Kim Go Eun is fantastic. And she looks absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to watch more tomorrow.

And in fanfic writing news I finished the first draft of my Yuletide treat. Yay, me! 😊 And I posted my new Big Dragon fic.

My Yuletide assignment fic is already posted. I have 1500 words of a treat written, too, so there’s a good chance I will manage to finish it and have it beta-read before works reveal. And in between writing my Yuletide fics I also managed to finish a filthy Big Dragon PWP I started writing a year ago. It’s in beta-reading right now and I hope to post it the next week.

ClaireBell

Episode 5 was, again, very good.

A bit more with minor spoilers here.I loved Claire and Bell’s honeymoon phase. But it also filled me with dread, because I know what that means – a lot of angst and drama in the next episode for sure. 😊 And I think things will get much worse for Dao, too.

Burnout Syndrome

Episodes 1 and 2 were excellent and it made me very happy. But wow, I’m getting a serious case of second lead syndrome with this drama. Especially since Koh is a very unlikable asshole right now in a very realistic way.

Spoilers here, too.I really don’t care about a possible redemption of a ruthless and filthy rich pro-AI tech bro. I don’t want him to get together with Jira. Heh, I’m getting flashbacks to Theory of Love and my hatred of Khai here. I wonder if I’ll change my mind about Koh later.

Of course there is definitely some red color under Pheem’s very nice and soft surface, too. He’s gorgeous and super hot, true. But he seems really passive for now. He claims to be very unhappy in his current situation at work, at the same time also saying he can't change anything about it. And it sounds like such a weak excuse.

Also I’m very impressed with Gun’s ability to have chemistry with literally everyone. In this drama I don’t mean just Dew and Off, but Thor, too.

And yay they did let Gun and Dew kiss. It was a short kiss at the end of the 2nd episode, but I’ll take it. And hope for more later. 😊

Heated Rivalry

Well, ok, this show is getting its own tag, too. Because episode 3 exceeded my expectation. I loved it so much. Francois Arnoud is fantastic as Scott, hot and gorgeous and charismatic as hell. Robbie G.K. is great as Kip, too. They have nice chemistry, and their NC scenes are fire.

More here with spoilers. For me they did a good job with showing in such a short time the whole development of Scott and Kip’s relationship, and that staying in the closet takes a toll on Scott, and why he behaves the way he does. And I loved how the showed the contrast between Kip who has supportive friends and a great, loving relationship with his dad, and Scott who is basically alone all the time, before he gets together with Kip.

And they left out their public kiss and Scott’s coming out for one of the next episodes. This is what Francois Arnaud said in one interview:

"What changes the game for Shane and Ilya happens later in the season, and I would say that the emotional climax of the season involves all of these characters, and the stories are intimately connected," Arnaud says before quickly clarifying: "It's not a foursome!"

Heh, I love that he felt the need to clarify that.

And here is another good interview with him for TV Guide.

I watched the first two episodes of Heated Rivalry. And it’s fine. I like it enough to watch all of it. And I’m very glad that a show like that is so popular. But I have to admit that what I liked the most out of these two episodes was Francois Arnaud as Scott Hunter. I don’t hate Shane and Ilya or anything like that, but I’m also not that interested in their ‘rivals-to-lovers with mutual pining while fucking’ romance. I don’t even know why, on paper is sounds like something I should be very into, and the lead actors are good and have great chemistry. But for some reason it doesn’t ping that part of my brain responsible for fannish obsessions.

And yes, the show is very explicit. But I probably would be more impressed by that if I didn’t have quite a few equally (or sometimes even more) explicit Thai BL dramas under my belt. 😊

I also mentioned in October that I loved the trailer so much that I started reading the book. Still haven’t finished it. It took me a week to read 18 chapters and then I kinda wandered off and never picked it up again. But after I liked those few short scenes with Scott Hunter in the show, I decided to read the first book in the series which is about him and his romance with a cute juice bar barista Kip. And you know what? I liked that book so much more, and I read it in three days. I love Kip and Scott separately and together. I’m very happy that the 3rd episode of the show will be mostly about them.

I heard before that Heated Rivalry is a better written book than Game Changer, and I do agree with that. But despite that I still enjoyed Game Changer so much more. I also heard that these books were very fanficcy. And yes, they are, very much so. Game Changer even more than Heated Rivalry. Sometimes I felt as if I was reading an explicit OW fic on AO3. Especially during smut scenes. But don’t get me wrong, for me that absolutely isn’t a deterrent. 😊

A bit more about Game Changer with spoilers. When they first meet Kip is out at work, and to his friends and family. But Scott, being a famous hockey player, is very much closeted. At first it isn’t a problem, but later it becomes the main point of conflict between them. And I liked how it was done in the book, where I understood where both guys were coming from. And it wasn’t just that one of them is always right and one is wrong.

And oh, how much I loved all Scott Hunter’s coming out scenes. At first he comes out to his three closest friends at his hockey team, then to his couch. And it made me laugh so much that both times someone always suspects that Scott might be involved with Ilya Rozanov.

First it’s this:

“Thank god,” Huff said. “I thought you were gonna say you were secretly dating Rozanov.”

“Rozanov wishes,” Scott said.

And then this:

They shook hands, and Murdock said, “It’s not Rozanov, is it?”

“Jesus. No! Why does everyone—?”

LOL 🤣

And I loved that Scott (who wanted to do a sensible thing and come out to the world through the interview in Sports Illustrated), after his team won the Stanley Cup, thought: fuck it, why wait, I’m going to kiss my boyfriend hard and deep right there on the ice in front of all those sports fans and all the cameras. And he did just that. ♥

I think now I’ll try finishing Heated Rivalry. And then I’ll start the third book in the series – Tough Guy. And I do plan to read the rest of them, too.

It took place yesterday. I watched only the 1st hour live, and then I had to go for my physiotherapy session. But I wouldn’t be watching all of it in one sitting anyway. It lasted five hours.

And no way I’m making a post with 37 trailers (8 GL + 24 BL + 5 Het & Bromance) in it. Especially since quite a lot of them were pretty underwhelming. So instead here are 17 trailers that caught my attention.

Category: this looks fantastic, and I want it in my eyeballs right now.Lovers & Gangsters

BL with two main couples - ForceBook my beloveds, and Great with his new partner Bright. And it looks amazing. Loud, entertaining, a bit cheesy, sexy and fun. Someone called it a period gangster lakorn, and I think it fits. 😊 I’m still not sure what period it is – the sixties, the seventies?

The plot is something like this: Force and Great are leaders of two rival gangs. Force also killed Great’s father, or at least that’s what Great thinks. Bookie is Great’s younger brother and for some reason (maybe revenge) he joins Force’s gang, and of course falls in love with him.

Billionaire Biker

My other beloveds AouBoom finally as the sole lead couple in a BL drama. In a romcom this time, with a rich boy/poor boy romance. And it’s also an employer/employee romance.

Aou is a handsome and cool (and thankfully not an asshole at all) Vice President of a company which sweet and naïve newbie Boom starts working at. And this time Aou’s character is the older one and he’s called Phi. Aww... Actually aww for the whole trailer, because it looks lovely and soft, and so adorably fluffy.

Moonshadow

GL drama with EmiBonnie in a romance between a singer and a bar owner that starts with an one night stand, and then transforms into a sugar baby arrangement. Of course very soon they start catching feelings for real. Enter Film as Emi’s evil ex-girlfriend to cause troubles for their budding relationship.

It looks sexy and hot, and messy, and I’m so in.

Category: this looks very interesting and RTMI, high probability I will watch it.Enemies with Benefits

GL drama with a new pairing: Jan (whom I loved in The Warp Effect and Cherry Magic) and unknow to me JingJing. But wow, great chemistry and great kissing, girls. 😊

It’s an office romance about enemies at work (the head of accounting team and the head of sales team), who have a drunken one night stand, and decide to become friends with benefits. It turns into a real love of course. And there is Kapook and Ciize as the secondary pairing. And they look great together.

Mr. Kill

Thriller + bromance. I’m saying bromance, because it was presented during the “Het & Bromance” section. But there are a lot of BL tropes here, and judging just by the trailer it would be hard to say if it’s DewTee or Dew & Tee. But I’m interested either way, because I like Dew a lot since I saw him in Leap Day.

It’s about a police officer (Tee) and a manga writer (Dew), who start working together when a serial killer starts killing people the same way a character from Dew’s manga did.

Gunshot

OffGun in a dark drama about revenge. And maybe about a healing power of love? But it also might not have a happy ending? Because wow, this drama looks very dark and grim.

Gun’s lover (played by Fluke Jeeratch) was raped and killed, and Gun was forced to witness it. And now he wants to take revenge on people’s responsible by killing cruelly all of them. Off is a police officer, and Gun’s new lover, who wants to stop Gun from doing that.

And another wow for Ohm Pawat as a psychopathic villain. He’s a great actor, I can’t wait to see him be all cruel and evil.

Category: this looks entertaining (and has ships I like), I might watch it.My Professional Boyfriend

WinnySantang in another rich boy/poor boy romance. Winny is the rich boy this time, and he’s not only rich but he’s the heir of a powerful mafia family. And Santang is a poor guy, whom Winny hires to be his fake boyfriend, because he doesn’t want to date the guy his father chose for him. And Little Ohm is a villain this time. And he looks good while being all smirking and evil.

Replay

PondPhuwin, TayNew and JossGawin in one drama.

Pond, Tay and Joss are friends who are hot, rich and successful. But then they all lose their comfortable former lives. Pond is an airplane captain, who gets falsely accused of smuggling. Tay is a doctor, who makes a mistake and has a patient die during the operation, and he gets his license revoked. Joss is a racer, who suddenly starts losing after 8 years of winning, and he loses the title of the champion to his rival.

Thanks to a mysterious clock which can turn back time they go back in time to fix what went wrong with their lives. But not everything might go smoothly this time, too.

Roommate Chaos

MarkOhm, SaveFranc and SurfJava in university BL with opposites attract theme. Looks like a sweet piece of fluff. I liked SaveFranc in My Magic Prophecy a lot, so it will be nice to see them in another drama. And I hope this drama will be a better fit for MarkOhm than Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist was.

Cupid’s Ghost

EarthMix as leads with OhmPoon (Ohm here is Ohm Thitiwat) as the secondary couple.

Mix is a florist who can see ghosts, Earth is an owner of a funeral home, who wants Mix to work for him. The ghost of Earth’s dead brother serves as their matchmaker. Looks cute and mostly fluffy, with maybe a few heartbreaking moments.

Ditto

MilkLove in a romance between a former ballet dancer and a former stewardess who both have the same name. With Piploy (whom I love a lot) in a supporting part looking absolutely gorgeous as an unhinged villain.

Category: ehhh, maybe.I Will Always Save You

JimmySea in a BL drama directed by Jojo. Sea is the singer who has to go into the witness protection program and Jimmy is a policeman assigned to protect him. And in this drama a gorgeous cruel villain is played by Dunk. He’s a gangster who wants to have the singer killed.

How To Survive My CEO

JoongDunk as leads in a BL drama about a cold CEO with hidden trauma, and a cheerful intern who brightens his life. Nothing original, I’ve seen it before, more than once. But I might watch this one, too. Hopefully it will be cute and funny.

Also there are AJ and JJ in the same drama, playing twins of course, and that’s always nice to see. 😊

17th Spring

High school BL with ChokunAston, and with PoddPapang again as the secondary couple. This time Papang is a teacher, and Podd is Aston’s uncle. If I’ll watch this drama it will be mainly for them. But I like ChokunAston, too. I’m hesitant because their storyline looks kinda heavy, with Chokun’s character being HIV positive. But it looks like it has a happy ending, so we’ll see.

When Oranges Fall

Another high school BL with AlmondProgress as leads, about a boy named Ko who becomes friends, and slowly falls in love, with his new neighbor, who is also a new student in his class. And that boy is also named Ko.

It has KenPaul as a secondary couple, and I like them a lot. And it’s directed by New Siwaj, and I tend to like his dramas, so that’s why I might watch it.

Twenty One

JuniorMark in a romcom BL about a bouncer and a singer working at the same bar. They are both heartbroken after being rejected by the same guy (who’s played by Great, so no wonder they are both smitten with him 😊). And they go from coworkers bonding over an identical heartbreak, to friends and roommates, and finally to lovers.

Surf 'n' Love

Ohm Pawat, Est and Parn in a het love triangle taking place in surfers community. I like Ohm and Parn a lot. And yes, it’s obvious who gets the girl, because Est is clearly playing the second male lead here. But they all have chemistry with each other, so if I’ll watch this drama it will be mainly for delightful M/M/F threesome subtext. 😊

ClaireBell

Episode 4 was very good.

More with spoilers here.Well, during the last episode I wasn’t sure what Bell’s motives and feelings really are. And she absolutely has real feelings for Claire, I believe that. But that scene when she took Claire to shower in the morning – that was on purpose, right? She does it so the other inmates see them together.

And oh wow, nice NC scene. Soft and sensuous, and bathed in a warm, golden light. So beautiful despite it happening in a dilapidated building on an old, worn-out mattress. I loved that Claire, uncharacteristically shyly for her, admitted that this was her first time, and that Bell was the one in charge.

And heh, that cute moment later of Bell saying “Don’t forget to trim your nails, okay” to Claire. It seems Bell isn’t a newbie when it comes to sex with women.

And yep, we are entering Kae’s villain era now. And I have to say Kae’s actress is very good, too. I felt since the 1st episode that there was something maybe tiny bit off with her, despite her bubbly, goofy, and nice persona. And I love how they slowly showed us what was beneath the surface here.

Also Top is the worst. What a whiny, cowardly asshole.

Under Her Rules

This is a pilot trailer, 11 minutes long. Seems a bit like The Devil Wears Prada Thai GL version, where the boss and the assistant end up together. Also there is a love triangle. Or maybe even two love triangles?

It looks potentially interesting to me, especially since main actresses have great chemistry. And they’re very good at kissing. And at other things. Let me tell you, this pilot is very NSFW. 😊

Oh, wow... Episode 3 was amazing. It also made me cry a lot.

More with major spoilers here.Everything that happened with Pa’Porn was heartbreaking. I guessed that her son had been probably dead while watching the 2nd episode. But the whole backstory of someone killing him and Pa in retaliation running over that person with her car and ending up in jail broke me. I lost it when she started telling Claire in that frail, broken voice about her son. And then her death... I expected pain and heartbreak from this drama, and this episode brought a lot of it.

And with all that happening I really needed those few sweet moments between Claire and Bell. And their first kiss was lovely. Ok, it might be that Bell is doing it partially because she wants to have Claire’s protection. But she feels something, too already IMO. It’s not all just cold calculation on her part.

And wow, Kae is going to lose it after she’ll find out about Claire and Bell, isn’t she? And she will probably turn against Bell completely.

Typhoon Family

I’m a bit disappointed after last week episodes, because it is getting repetitive. But don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy it and there are enough good things to make up for that mild disappointment.

Spoilers here, too.I’m getting tired with the whole cycle of “Tae Poong finds another opportunity to save his company, the villains (who are super boring BTW) do something to thwart him, at the last minute Tae Poong finds the solution and succeeds anyway”, rinse and repeat. The same formula repeated every two episodes. But all the relationships, romantic and non-romantic, are lovely and wonderful, and interesting. And here I’m very invested. So I will definitely watch it till the end. Also because of Junho, who is amazing here, seriously. I’m very impressed with him and with Kim Min Ha. They are both great.

I was also very impressed that Nam Mo stood up to his mother and defended his girlfriend so fiercely. I was sure they would do something like Mi Ho never saying anything to Nam Mo, and maybe even breaking up with him. Or when Nam Mo found out right away, I was sure that he wouldn’t do anything anyway. That he would never dare to criticize his mom, whom he loves so much. But he did. And I love him for that.

Me and Thee

I watched the 1st episode and it was fine, I guess. I did laugh a few times, but I think this one is not for me, unfortunately. I will give them an episode or two more, but only because I love Pond and Phuwin. And then we’ll see. I have too many new dramas on my to-watch list to watch something I’m feeling pretty meh about.

As for trailers I have only one to share right now – for Force and Book’s new BL drama Melody of Secrets. It starts airing on December 5 and I can’t wait.

As for fanfic – I finished editing my Yuletide fic, yay me. 😊 It’s already sent for beta-reading. I have an idea for one treat, but I need to do a bit of canon review first.

And I posted my second Mandate fic.
