I miss winter, proper Polish winter with snow and frost and a temperature at least 5 degrees of Celsius below zero. There was a bit of snow last week, but it was a thin layer for like two days, and then it all melted into dirty, muddy slush.

The title of my post is the title of Małgorzata Szumowska’s new movie – the official Polish candidate for the Oscar in the Best International Film category. It fits my current mood perfectly so I just had to use it. 😊

But let’s not talk about that, let’s talk about happy fannish things instead.

My Yuletide fic is written, beta-read, edited and posted. Yay! My Muse is generous lately, so one treat might be happening, too. Yay twice! And there are already a few fics in Yuletide collection that look interesting. It will be so nice to sit down and read them on Christmas, especially since the weather prognoses don’t sound very encouraging for any going outside plans (see the title of this post 😉).

HIStory 4 is definitely happening. The title is “Close to You”. They announced the cast and apparently they will start filming soon. Here is the drama’s page on mydramalist. The plot for the main couple doesn’t sound very tempting to me, but I’m willing to wait and see. I loved History 2 and History 3 dramas, so maybe I will enjoy that one, too.

And, of course, there is always a lot of shows to watch.

Shows I dropped

My Secret Hotel – I watched one episode and it was enough for me to drop it. Even the promise of shirtless Nam Goong Min couldn’t convince me to continue it. The two other main leads were so boring, even this first episode I had to watch in two days. It was just too boring to watch in one go.

Rooftop Prince - four episodes watched. I enjoyed it at first, I love time travel and the fish out of the water scenes with the Joseon Crown Prince and his three companions in modern day Seoul were funny, but that ended pretty quickly and the drama started to concentrate on a boring love triangle. And both second leads were so cartoonishly evil, and not in an entertaining way, there were just incredibly annoying.

Shows I watch

Awaken – I watched the first four episodes, and I like it, and Nam Goong Min is great, but I think I’ll wait until the whole drama is subbed on VIKI. I got out of the habit of watching shows at two episodes a week pace. I get too impatient. 😊

Falsify – another Nam Goong Min’s drama. I watched two episodes and I guess I like it. It’s ok, nothing special, but for me Nam Goong Min being pretty and intense in his need for revenge for his brother’s death is enough. I will watch the rest, but I will probably take a break to finish Start-Up first.

Start-Up – it’s set in South Korea’s fictional Silicon Valley, called Sandbox, and tells the story of people in the world of startup companies. It’s on Netflix here. And I’ve heard it had a warm, happy ending, and that’s what I need right now.

Three episodes watched for now and I like it a lot. Especially Kim Seon Ho as Han Ji Pyeong. I remember him as this sweet, dorky and shy guy from Chief Kim and he is so wonderful here, and completely different. I’m glad he gets main roles now, because he absolutely deserves it.

The Legend of Korra – it’s finally on Netflix in Poland. I watched it only once when it first aired and I forgot a lot of details, so it’s partially like watching it for the first time again. 😊

Shows I want to watch

Mr. Queen – it’s a Korean drama about the male chef from modern day South Korea, who gets transported into the body of Queen Cheorin in the Joseon era. Trailer looked good, but it was just two minutes. It could be hilarious or cringy, we’ll see. It started airing on VIKI last week. But again I think I will wait until the whole season is subbed.

Bridgerton – it’s an upcoming British period drama set in the world of Regency London high society. It will premiere on Netflix on 25th of December. It has beautiful people and costumes, and a lot of intrigue. And the trailers made it look a bit like Gossip Girl during the Regency era. I can’t wait.
