Those episodes were pretty good and enjoyable. They go out of their way to make accounting and spreadsheets look cool and exciting. It’s so cute and it makes me laugh. Especially when there is dramatic music swelling as our heroes do something as mundane as reading files, but oh so dramatically, or even when they drink coffee and make a thinking face, and things like that. And I give it to them - they even managed to include a car chase. Heh... I know they try to make a dry and complicated subject gripping, without all the action being just, you know, talking and explaining what all those intricate accounting terms mean. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don’t. But for now the chemistry between the two leads saves the drama, at least for me, and I’m willing to overlook all the boring bits.

And the boring bits for me include the villains. I find the villains so disappointing. Well, ok, the main villain isn’t that bad, I guess, even if he is a bit boring. But his loyal henchman is played by a very weak actor, and on paper it’s a character I should love, but every time he’s on screen my finger itches for a fast-forward button.

And I have one pretty big complaint, though, and I hope they will do better in the next eight episodes. The female characters, unfortunately, are underdeveloped, and like Dramabeans review for these two episodes said:

“I’m desperate to see a female character in this show do something besides provide emotional support for the men!”

That could become something that hinders my enjoyment of this drama, but I’m willing to give them a couple of episodes more to see if anything changes.

And for now I enjoy the overdramatic accounting, and the slashiness is very nice, too. And yes, they absolutely know what they’re doing. More about that below, with spoilers.

Later Ho Woo relates this conversation to his friends and roommates. I love Jang Ho Woo’s roommates. They are so sweet and supportive, and protective of him.

So this is that conversation:

Ho Woo: “If you stay here you will get hurt”. When he said that it felt weird.”

The girl roommate, with a cheeky smile: “So, he made your heart flutter?”

Ho Woo, blushing: “Gosh, seriously. Well, I almost felt like he was sincere.”

The boy roommate, faux seriously: “Oh. You can’t afford to feel another man’s sincerity recklessly.”

LOL they are both so great.

And in episode 4 there is this scene when Sung Jo and Ho Woo bond over a bottle of wine in Seung’s Jo apartment. And when Seung Jo gets drunk and falls asleep Ho Woo’s tenderly covers him with a blanket. Awww...
