So apparently I was wrong about the weekly number of new subtitled episodes on VIKI, and I’m very glad that I was wrong. Because there are six new episodes each week, not four. Yay! Also VIKI is 6 episodes behind. The drama airs on iQiyi platform in China and people with VIP account have access to 18 episodes already. Currently I’m deliberating if I'm impatient enough to go search for the next subtitled episodes somewhere else, or if I can wait till Wednesday for more on VIKI. :)

Spoilers below.

I’m more and more in love with Wang Zhi. He still is morally ambiguous and manipulative and ruthless sometimes, but he’s also loyal to his emperor and his country. And intelligent. And sarcastic. He is a great antagonist. Although as of now he basically always helps our two main heroes. But of course he uses them to help himself, too. :) He clearly already has a soft spot for Tang Fan. And he admires Tang Fan’s intelligence.

But I love that Dong’er is even smarter than the two of them. And that she managed to master Go in 6 hours, and then she managed to beat both Wang Zhi and Tang Fan at the same time. And I love that Wang Zhi wasn’t even jealous, he was just impressed by her skills.

And then there is… Ok, I don’t really know her name, because VIKI subtitles say “Dora” but the cast list on MyDramaList has it as Duo Er'la. That second one is probably the right one, VIKI subtitles aren’t always reliable in that regard. Anyway, she is obviously introduced to be Tang Fan’s love interest. She belongs to Oirats (minority group that lives in the city). She has a silly conflict with Tang Fan in one of the early episodes and in the beginning they dislike each other immensely. They later get to know each other a bit more, and as of episode 12 Tang Fan is clearly smitten with her. And I don’t mind at all, because I like her.

I still ship Tang Fan/Sui Zhou hard, but it’s a Chinese drama and they will never become canon anyway. I would prefer if they both didn’t have female love interests in the drama. But if one of them has to have a love interest, I’m glad I like her.

And now picspam.
