I finished Remember yesterday. I watched this drama only for Nam Goong Min. I was interested in the plot a bit at first, but I quickly grew bored. It’s not a well written drama. And much too long with 20 episodes. 12 would be more than enough. I started to fast-forward quite a bit during the last five episodes. The main character was pretty boring, too. I haven’t seen the actor Yoo Seung Ho in anything else, maybe he’s better there, but here he was rather bad IMO.
But my latest love Nam Goong Min was perfect as Nam Gyu Man. The range of emotions he was able to show in that rather one-dimensional villain with his voice or his facial expressions was astounding.
Major spoilers below.
Nam Gyu Man is a rapist and a murderer, “a rich whiner with anger management issues” as one secondary character calls him. He never shows any remorse for his crimes, because in his eyes whose who were hurt by him don’t count as people at all. He says it’s their fault that they are treated like that, because they have nothing. Yes, he is a despicable human being. And I cheered when he was finally put behind bars in the last episode. And yet, I felt sorry for him when he realized in prison that everybody abandoned him, and how lonely he was. And when his horrible, abusive father cut all ties with him and told Nam Gyu Man that he didn’t have a son anymore, which caused Nam Gyu Man to hang himself in his cell.
Nam Goong Min is really super talented and as of now my favorite Korean actor. Next, for a change, I plan to watch Beautiful Gong Shim where his character is a good guy. And after that The Girl Who Sees Smells where he plays a villain again.
Of course I browsed YouTube for fanvids and BTS vids already, and I have one fanvid rec:
