Another hard week at work, but in personal life things are a bit better. So yay for that.

Ok, maybe in another 5 years or so I will be able to re-watch Through the Darkness. :) Because the last episode actually was very optimistic for a dark show like this one.

Minor spoilers behind the cut

It shows that what Ha Young does is important, it helps a lot in the investigations. And how far the other officers have come, from their initial contempt and skepticism towards profiling, to their gradual trust in it and willingness to cooperate with the Behavioral Analysis Team, and even ask for their help first. And it shows that it does brings comfort to the victims’ families. And the ending shows that the Behavioral Analysis Team is expanding and recruiting new members.

And here let me quote the review from Dramabeans because it perfectly describes what this drama did so well.

It’s so rare to find a drama that takes the time and effort to give the victims the respect they deserve, instead of paying mere lip service. Even when dealing with the most brutal and infamous of criminals, the drama always took care not to sensationalize the murders it depicted. This show wasn’t for pure entertainment or shock value; instead, it sought to highlight the atrocities that so many people suffer through in silence, sidelined by the media and shafted by society.

And one more quote about Kima Nam Gil’s acting:

Kim Nam-gil gave an absolutely masterful performance as the tenacious and empathetic Ha-young, conveying so much with just the emotions in his eyes and the slightest shift in his expressions. Despite his reserved soft-spokenness, Ha-young never felt rigid or indecipherable. Instead, his inner tempest of emotion was always so palpable, simmering just below the surface and suffusing through his actions.

Yes to all this. And you can see the example of Kim Nam Gil’s beautiful acting in this scene from episode 8.

And here is another good review with minor spoilers.

Racket Boys is my happy place right now. It’s so heart-warming, even when it makes me sob with emotions and it does it at least once an episode.

I don’t need a big plot or big conflict. Just watching everyday life of these people, and their everyday problems, watching them grow and change is enough for me. Watching these teenagers becoming friends, learn about life and fall in love makes me smile. Usually I don’t like an awkward teenage romance, here I have two awkward teenage romances and my reaction is “aww, they are the cutest, I could watch this forever”. :)

And now for something completely different – here are two teasers for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

One

Two

More about them below with spoilers

I watched only the first movie, found it rather boring and never watched the sequel. But I think I am going to watch this one since they make Dumbledore/Grindelwald unequivocally canon, which these two teasers confirm.

Grindelwald: “It was you who said we could reshape the world. It’s what we said we’d do.”

Dumbledore: “Because I was in love with you.”

So much angst, I love it. :) I did ship them hard for a hot minute after reading Deathly Hallows for the first time so many years ago. I think I might start shipping them again after this? :)
