RL is pretty tiring lately, not just work, other things, too. That’s why I’m so grateful that I have a new fascination, which lets me forgets all the problems in the evenings.
I decided to wait for KinnPorsche to finish airing before watching it, the same with Old Fashioned Cupcake, which just started airing on VIKI. And I put Plus and Minus on back burner for now, too. Because for now I watch only dramas with Gun Atthaphan. As is my wont when I fall head over heels with a new actor. :)
Well, ok, I lied. I did managed to tear myself away from Gun’s dramas for long enough to watch the first two episodes of Triage – that medical BL drama with a time-loop. And I liked it. I will watch the rest later for sure.
Now I will ramble for a bit about Gun’s dramas I watched, mainly The Gifted and Secret Love: Puppy Honey (with minor spoilers and with a picspam from Puppy Honey), so to spare anyone who isn’t interested it goes behind the cut. :)
I tried “I’m Tee, Me Too” (not BL, but with a lot of BL actors playing main characters – six guys named Tee, who all rent a room in the same house), but it was too silly with too much cringy humor for me, so I dropped it after the 3rd episode.
I also finished The Gifted and I must say it was one of these few rare cases when I was completely satisfied with the ending. It was nearly perfect for me. I started the sequel, and at first I liked it less since they added three new main characters in addition to quite a large cast from the 1st season. And since they were new the drama devoted a lot of time to them in the first four episodes to introduce them to the viewers, and I wanted to see more of the characters I already knew and loved. But since episode 5 the focus finally shifted back again to the gang from the 1st season, and now I’m very invested again.
Apart from Gun the other actor who impresses me a lot in The Gifted is Nanon Korapat, who also played one of the main characters in a BL drama Bad Buddy. Which I wasn’t interested in before but I am now. Nanon is really good and I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun watching him in a BL drama, especially the one I only heard good things about.
The next drama I watched was Secret Love: Puppy Honey. It’s about two veterinary students, who try to recruit more people for their school club for taking care of stray cats and dogs since it’s in danger of being shut down by the Dean.
It’s not BL, the main couple is het. Gun and Off play the secondary couple here. And Gun is again so, so wonderful. Off is often rather stiff and Gun acts circles around him. And this is the first time they played a couple and yeah, it shows. Their kisses here are so awkward and stilted. But they definitely improved later in that department. Their Not Me kisses are much, much better. But I get why OffGun became so popular as a couple after this. They have nice chemistry and their relationship was the best part of this drama, regardless of awkward kissing.
Gun’s character is called Rome, and Rome is an angel. He is sweet, cute, beautiful, gentle and understanding. Pick (Off’s character) is a big jerk to Rome in the beginning. He’s that “I’m so straight and manly, how can I have feelings for a guy” type of character I really dislike (Rome is canonically gay and out at least to his friends, which is nice). Even when the viewer can clearly see that Pick does indeed have feelings for a guy, Pick is still often a jerk to Rome. But I can get over that since he’s never physically threatening to Rome, he’s not an obnoxious womanizer, and there are no force kisses or things like that. Their first kiss is initiated by Rome, and Pick of course has a freak out right after but he isn’t physically violent, he doesn’t push Rome away or yell at him. So during the watching I was all like “Rome, sweetie, I question your taste in men, but since you very clearly love this jerk, fine you can have him.” :)
This drama has two short seasons – the 1st season has 6 episodes, the 2nd eight episodes. It’s available officially with English subtitles here on Youtube.
And I was surprised how much I enjoyed the 1st season in general, not just Off and Gun’s subplot. The main het couple was rather cute, too, and I watched all of it without any fast-forwarding. The 2nd season was worse IMO, I completely lost interest in the main couple’s “breaking up and then getting together again” plot, and this time I fast-forwarded a lot. But Rome/Pick was adorable, despite Pick still being a jerk unable to talk about his feelings. And Gun was of course wonderful and beautiful, and there is a sweet happy ending with Pick finally saying ‘I love you’ to Rome, so I’m glad I watched it.
Maybe I will try Theory of Love next despite my initial reservations? But from what I’ve read Off’s character Khai is the same type as Pick, only even more irritating and unpleasant. Knowing myself I will probably hate him a lot. So yeah, probably not watching that drama after all. :)
And now here is Rome and his beautiful face in Puppy Honey.
