RL is ehh – the less said the better. Some things should clear up the next week, so that’s good. We’ll see. And for now let’s talk about more interesting things.


Yuletide 2023

I like my assignment, and even started writing already. I have only 200 words for now, but it’s a start. I also bookmarked seven other requests. There’s no way 7 treats are happening, but I hope at least one will.


BL dramas

Thai BL drama Red Peafowl is about a dark romance between a police officer and a psychotic mafioso. It really looks as if someone wanted to make another KinnPorsche. I wonder if they will succeed.

I only got interested in that drama, because it has Max Nattapol as a supporting character. Tul said goodbye to acting and I’ll always be a little bit sad about that, because they were great together. But I love Max and I’m very interested in watching him in another drama. And apparently his love interest in this one is Boun Noppanut from Until We Meet Again and Between Us.

Here is the post on boyslove reddit with all the cast listed and with clips from the live broadcast, including parts of the pilot (no English subs, though). It looks OTT and a bit trashy, but could be entertaining. As long as they won’t pretend that consent issues aren’t consent issues then I’m in. It’s supposed to air in 2024.

And yesterday was Book Kasidet’s 27th birthday. Happy birthday, Bookie. I love you and I hope to see you in many more dramas in the future.

I'm sad to hear Tul has said goodbye to acting but given his family background and then going to grad school at Columbia I think most people could see it coming.

That said, I only saw Max and Tul act together in Manner of Death but I thought they had great chemistry in it as well as my getting to enjoy a BL story that wasn't just a romance. ;D

Yeah, Tul leaving was kinda obvious for some time now. But MaxTul still is my golden standard for chemistry in BL, even though a few other acting pairings came close. I will miss them, but I'm looking forward to watching Max in new dramas in the future.

Is all their other work together 'Romance' or is there something different like Manner of Death?

I've never been a particular fan of romance of any type - I don't mind it at all as a 'B' plot but I want an 'A' plot that's about something else.

It's why I only watch the really short BL romance series or the ones like Manner of Death or HIStory3: Trapped.

I think it's why I still have a longer list of non-canonical OTPs over canonical ones. I can slide the romance in under the mystery plot! ;D

I only watched one drama other than Manner of Death with MaxTul - Together with Me. And yep, it's just a romance. And I can't really recommend it. I mean, I enjoyed it, or rather I enjoyed Max and Tul's scenes. But it's also a typical BL drama made in 2017. It has infidelity, an evil scheming girlfriend, and the secondary couple that I barely could watch (I fast-forwarded through all their scenes) because it was full of consent issues that weren't treated as consent issues. I tried watching the sequel to Together with Me, but gave up after 4 episodes, because it was so bad. Even Max and Tul's chemistry couldn't save it for me.

There is also their first drama Bad Romance, when they are the secondary couple (the main couple is het), but I haven't seen that one yet. The reviews are mixed about this one, so who knows maybe I will watch it one day, but not very soon probably. :)

Oi, tall order. O_O But KinnPorsche didn't succeed because of that setup, but because of everything else around it, and that's just really hard to replicate if you don't mean it.


p.s.: thanks for the gifset - people being smiley during sex scenes is A++!

Heh, yeah... But still, I will always check the drama that has the setting other than high school or university. So here is hoping it will be, if not good, then at least entertaining. :)
