Episode 5

I loved it so much. There were so many good, lovely and beautiful things here. 😍 But then I saw the previews for the next episode and I was so scared. 😨

So many spoilers here.

At least I had a lot of adorable scenes in this episode.

My sweet sunshine Xiaobao holding onto Huaien’s sleeve, Xiaobao declaring his love whenever he can so openly, Xiaobao holding the sword in his trembling hands prepared to protect Huaien.

And my cold kitty Huaien finally defrosting a little, Huaien initiating the hug, and the way his hands tightened on Xiaobao’s robe during that hug, Huaien smiling a wide, happy smile because he heard Xiaobao talking about how much he loves Huaien.

But then that ending... And, wow, jealous Huaien literally murdered people because of it. And like I get why Huaien is so jealous. And it’s really not just because he’s jealous. He feels betrayed. He let Xiaobao convince him that Xiaobao’s love is true, and not just a passing fancy. He opened up to Xiaobao, he started to trust him. And now this happens – everyone around him told him that’s the way Xiaobao was, and Huaien starts to believe them, he thinks that Xiaobao’s brothel visit is the proof of Xiaobao’s fickleness. That Huaien isn’t his one and only love. And Huaien is already on the truly unhinged ‘you’re mine and no one else’s’ level of his love. All he asked of Xiaobao was “don’t lie to me.” And now he thinks Xiaobao did lie to him.

Episode 6

OH MY GOD... Like I’ve said I watched the preview for this ep yesterday, so I knew what to expect. There will be more detailed thoughts later after re-watching, for now just a bit of incoherent rambling right after watching the episode.

There was so much drama, angst, and tragedy, and betrayal. And dubcon sex, too. My sweet sunshine Xiaobao suffered so much. I can’t stand to see him in pain and crying.

I guess it comes with a price - being loved by a man as damaged as Huaien. But, fuck it, I love it. It’s like the best and most iddy fanfic. And I live for this obsessed, possessive, unhinged Huaien.

“I’ll take everything from you so you have no choice but to rely only on me.”

Damn... It sent shivers down my spine. In a good way. And now I have to wait six days for the next episode? Argh... Give it to me now, now, now.

Yeah, Huaien gone Dark is both disturbing and unhinged and sheesh XIaobao is having a terrible horrible awful not good day. At one go, he learned that the man he loves is a manipulative traitor to the crown AND that his own family is less than clean. Wow. And the trout prince uses that to his advantage.

I generally avoid watching both the start and end credits because of spoilers but the glimpses I've seen of the credit scenes tell me there will be happyness a-coming but boy do they have to work for it.

Yeah, from what I heard I gathered it's a happy ending drama. At least I hope I'm right in my deduction. I mean, I love angst, I can live with a tragic ending, but right now I really, really want this particular drama to end with happily ever after. :)

LOL, I almost caught up! I still have a dozen eps of Lost You Forever, but they move so slowly I got bored. :D

I'm on ep 5 now, too, and enjoying myself. I can't say I like the forced non-con in ep 1, but since then, the show has been nothing but fun - and the background mystery/poliltical enemies plot is fun, too!

I agree with you that both characters aren't exactly my cup of tea, but put together like that, they work!

Well, Huaien is my cup of tea, but I usually find a character like Xiaobao annoying and not endearing. But here I love him so, co much. Maybe it's the actor's charm, maybe it's the combination of that and the writing. I don't know, but it works for me in this drama. And they absolutely work for me a couple. :)
