Still praying to whatever weather god is available to ease up on stifling heat and upcoming storms. I see another summer blockbuster at the movies in my near future (like this afternoon), because it’s not even 11 a.m. here and it’s already so fricking hot. My thermometer shows 35°C now. But apart from that RL is pretty good. And I have new cute reading glasses, and they’re great. 😊

And as always there are so many new dramas to watch. And some of them are even good. Here are the two good ones I started watching lately.

Shine

This is Be On Cloud’s new BL drama with Mile and Apo. The first episode aired yesterday and I already watched it. And that episode was very good. Good writing, very good acting, fascinating characters and very interesting story.

But I feel like now I have to do my homework on the political climate in Thailand during the late sixties. I’m joking about homework, of course. I love doing research like that. And I already read a bit on the popular uprising of 14 October 1973 in Thailand, because the drama is based on events that led up to that uprising.

On the more shallow note, Apo looks absolutely gorgeous. And I like Mile’s carefree hippie look, long hair and all. 😊

You can see that Tanwa is instantly infatuated with Trin, like lust at first sight thing. And who wouldn’t be with Apo looking like that. 😊 But at the end is also clear that Trin is drawn to Tanwa’s charisma as well. And we got the kiss already, yay.

But I find it funny that in this very serious and political BL drama I’m already also invested in a minor romantic, and probably doomed, het subplot. I’m talking about Krailer’s poor neglected wife and his underling. Because it looks to me as if the underling has a thing for the wife. He was the one reminding his boss that today is their wedding anniversary. He was the one that knew that Dhevi’s favorite flowers are purple tulips and bought them for her despite his boss telling him to just buy roses. And he looks at her with such soft longing in his eyes.

It's a short drama. There will be 8 episodes in total. It’s officially available only on WeTV for now.


Only You

It’s a new Thai GL with singer/bodyguard romance. Main characters Ayla and Tawan met in high school. Tawan was a cool senior who saved newbie Ayla during a dangerous situation, and then they very clearly fell in love. But they never did anything about it, never confessed their feelings or dated. And then Tawan left, because something dramatic happened. After the first three episodes, neither Ayla nor viewers know what was the reason.

8 years later Ayla is a famous singer, and Tawan has her own bodyguarding company. They meet again when Ayla is threatened by a dangerous stalker fan and needs a new bodyguard. And Ayla’s father (with a bit of sneaky prodding by Ayla) hires Tawan to protect Ayla.

I watched the three available episodes (there will be 14 episodes in total), and I like it a lot. Both leads are great. Ayla is sweet and cheeky and kind and optimistic. Cute as a button as a highschooler and sexy as an idol. Tawan is serious and a bit closed off, very good at bodyguarding, protective and devoted. There are a few great secondary characters, too, especially Tawan’s three underlings. And Ayla’s best friend Khatou. They were in high school together and Khatou was and is also a big Tawan’s fangirl, and a big Ayla/Tawan shipper. 😊

As for our two main actresses – LingOrm is the most popular Thai GL ship and now I get why. Orm is very charming, pretty and adorable. And Lingling is wow, just wow... What a gorgeous woman. I think I’m in love. 😊 Their chemistry is fire, too.

New episodes air on Fridays on Netflix in Southeast Asia and on a streaming service called 3Plus Premium worldwide. But they are also put on Youtube a few days later. Youtube playlist with the first two episodes is here.

oh, i didn't Shine was already airing! I bought a wetv account for KinnPorsche back in the day, maybe I should do that here too (although I wasn't sold on the trailer back when I watched it). I'll think about it.

I have to admit I wasn't really sold on the trailer, too. But I really wanted to watch Mile and Apo together again, that's why I decided to watch that first episode right away. Here is hoping the rest of the episodes will be good, too. :)
