What I watched this week

Wandering Earth

I enjoyed it a lot. It’s visually stunning and I liked most of the characters.

Major spoilers behind the cut.

I cried basically all the time while watching the last 30 minutes. I started crying when Liu Peiqiang sacrificed himself. But I love angst, so that was a feature not a bug for me. Also I’m now well versed in Chinese dramas, so I knew from the beginning that maybe half of the main characters would survive. :)

There is one fic in English on AO3, but it’s good, so here’s a rec:

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, season 3

It’s my go-to show for cheering up. When I’m feeling blue I watch “Light Hope” from season 1 (because I love Swift Wind and he always makes me laugh) or “Roll With It” from season 2 (because all those plans for conquering a Horde-controlled fortress are hilarious and also always make me laugh). Season 3 is very enjoyable, too.

I enjoyed Catra’s descent into villainy. And poor Scorpia with her hopeless crush. And everything about Hordak and Entrapta’s friendship.



Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, episodes 3 and 4

Things are getting a bit more serious, but it’s still a lot of fun. And I like the 3 other female historians. And I already ship Crown Prince Yi Jin (right now he’s my favorite male character) and Song Sa-Hee (one of those female historians).



Medical Examiner Dr Qin, episodes 1 and 2

yantantether recced it here and I watched the first two episodes. And I love it. The main trio is fantastic. I adore Li Da Bao, her short hair, her no-nonsense attitude, the adorable faces she makes and her cute tiny car. Qin Ming is exactly the kind of character that I usually fall in love with – super intelligent, eccentric and aloof. And so, so pretty. Lin Tao is wonderful, too and I ship the OT3 already. I had to close my eyes a few times, but I’m willing to suffer some gore, because the main relationship is so rewarding. So thanks so much for the rec, yantantether. :)

Oh, that rec got me as well. I think Qin Ming will take a while to warm to up to for me but Li Da Bao and Lin Tao I love already. And Li Da Bao's car is super cute, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.

And yes, the OT3 game is strong here. XD

When I first saw that car I laughed out loud. But it really suits Li Da Bao. They are both super cute. :) And I'm so glad you decided to watch it, too. We can squee together. :)

Ha! Me too! The Crown Prince is great, isn't he? I like the lone not-terrible-so-far historian Min Woo-won, too. And the leading man is slowly growing on me. :-D

I'm really curious to find out what Song Sa-Hee is up to!

I like Min Woo-won, too. And Prince Yi Rim is not bad and so beautiful, that I'm willing to excuse a lot of things because it means I can stare at him in awe. ;) I would probably like Min Woo-won much more, but it’s rather obvious IMO that things are going in the direction of love triangle with him, Prince Yi Rim and Goo Hae-ryung. And uhhh, I don’t like love triangles.

As for Yi Jin and Song Sa-Hee – I was laughing at myself, because they had once scene, their fingers touched briefly and it was enough for my heart to instantly go all “oh yes, I ship it.” :D

Last but not least – that is a wonderful icon. :)
