Ah, computer, how I missed you. :) I had to go away for 4 days and only had my phone for internet purposes. And since I can’t read or watch for a long time on such a small screen, I have so much fannish backlog: dreamwidth posts, fics, new episodes of Batwoman and His Dark Materials.

But first a few more things about The Witcher.

They released character introduction vids:

Geralt

Yennefer

Ciri

After watching the one about Geralt I was all set to complain, because Henry Cavill is pretty meh for me for now. But then I watched the one about Yennefer and to my surprise I liked it very much. And I was surprised because I wasn’t very fond of Yennefer in the books. And the whole Geralt/Yennefer epic love didn’t work for me at all. But after those 2,5 minutes I like this Yennefer. I love that they will show her childhood and how she became a witch. They never did in the books, it was only mentioned a few times. The third vid is about Ciri (Lion Cub of Cintra, aww, I really liked when they called Ciri that name in the books) and I think the actress is fine.

I’m starting to get cautiously optimistic that the show will be good, or at least good enough. There are a few moments that I really would like to see on screen. One especially.

I can’t wait to see the big reveal about Emhyr var Emreis (it won’t be in season 1 for sure, probably also not in season 2). It was such a surprise for me in the books. I was shocked and offended at first, because Duny would never, but Sapkowski absolutely sold me on that transformation.

I feel my old love rekindling. I re-read the first five short stories lately and they are the best, nearly perfect. I’m glad the 1st season is based on them.
