Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker

I saw it today. It was great and I loved it.

Squee with major spoilers behind the cut.

Rey was wonderful.

Lightsaber fights were fantastic.

Rey Palpatine – meh, I don’t really care. But I loved that she took the name Skywalker in the last scene, because Luke and Leia meant so much for her, and became her family.

Hux as a spy was hilarious and his scene with Poe and Finn was so funny. :D

I loved Kylo Ren, I loved his and Rey’s connection, I loved the kiss. And I loved his redemption and his death. That was a lot of delicious angst.

I loved Finn and Poe’s friendship. I didn’t ship them after The Force Awaken, although I understand why a lot of people did. But now I’m totally a shipper and I want all the post movie fics. Finn/Poe or Finn/Poe/Rey – that last threeway hug was beautiful.

All in all I am a happy fan. Would love to see it again at the movies, but I don’t know if I find time. Maybe during Christmas holiday.

I haven't seen it yet - it will probably be a while until I can - but from the spoilers I've seen, the only thing I don't like is Rey being related to someone important after all.

That was my one big disappointment – Rei being Palpatine’s granddaughter. I was spoiled, so it wasn’t a surprise, and I thought that maybe they would do that in a way that would make me change my mind. But no, it was boring and unnecessary IMO.

But there were so many good things, that this one didn’t spoil my enjoyment. And I think it’s entirely possible to ignore it for fanfic purposes. :)
