I’m so very tired

My fanfic writing and my fanfic reading had stalled. I still try writing every day, but getting even 100 words written daily is hard when I’m so damn tired after work. At least I’m not too tired for watching things.


I went to the movies to see Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). I liked it a lot. The lack of male gaze was very refreshing. And I enjoyed the power fantasy of four badass women disposing of large number of bad guys. And Margot Robbie is fantastic as Harley Quinn.


I watched History 1 Stay Away From Me, since the main character from that drama guest starred in Make Our Days Count (he’s Lu Zhi Gang’s nephew). It was very boring.


I tried to watch History 1 My Hero, since that’s the last History drama I haven’t seen and I thought about making “All History dramas from the most favorite to the least” post. :) I managed the first 15 minutes. It’s not just boring, it is so cringy that I had to stop watching. I will try to finish it, it’s just an hour and 10 minutes long, but I don’t know if I’ll succeed.


I’m up to episode 30 of Fairyland Lovers. I still like it, and my love for Yang Jian remains strong, but I have to say that I’m not very fond of that ‘erase the person’s memory for their own good without their consent’ trope.


I’m wondering what to watch next when I’m finished with Fairyland Lovers. Another Chinese drama? Or maybe another BL drama? And hey, I can make polls now, so here’s the poll. If you’re a lurker and would like to vote, too, please, be my guest. :)

I'm voting for The Untamed because it's the only one of these that I've seen. *g* (And I did like it, even if I'm not fannish about it beyond reading a fic every once in a while.)

I hope to see Birds of Prey soon, too. Everything I hear about it sounds fantastic!

Birds of Prey is really good and I strongly recommend it. And I have a feeling The Untamed will win this poll. :)

Nirvana in Fire has excellent acting, plot, and production values! It was my introduction to cdramas and I love it. Unless you're in a BL-only mood, I'd watch it.

That new BL drama has only one episode for now, so I will watch it anyway. But I want to start something that's already subbed in full, so I have an episode to watch every day after work, without waiting. Nirvana in Fire is almost unanimously considered excellent and everything I read about it sounds very rtmi. Ahhh, decisions, decisions... :D

There were a lot of tropes in that show that I'm not happy with. But, surprisingly, most of them turned out to be a bad idea. Everyone was in danger afterwards. Everyone was unhappy afterwards. So that was actually quite nice, and I feel that's not worse than not having those tropes at all.

I actually like watching things in real time on viki. (I personally loved Before We Get Married, which is the last show I did this with, and it was so good, and waiting for the next ep was hell every week. It's het, though. And I keep wanting to make a rec post for it and postponing it. *sigh*)

I have one more episode left of Fairyland Lovers. But I'm a bit tired today, so I will leave it for tomorrow. And they actually dealt with that memory erasure quite quickly and indeed it was never treated as a good idea. I like that, so all in all I don't mind it that much right now.

As for Because of You I watched both available episodes yesterday and I already love it. I even started to write a post about it. I will probably post it tomorrow. That drama is so short that it's not really big hardship to wait for new episodes these few next weeks, especially since they are on an official site and you don't have to rely on other fans finding time to translate it.
