After the horrible experience of watching History 4 Close to You I wanted to watch a good BL drama for a change. Manner of Death was an excellent choice. This drama I can wholeheartedly recommend.
It’s my first Thai BL drama. I tried Love By Chance and TharnType before (the first episode of each), but they didn’t work for me. But this one I love. I watched the last three episodes yesterday, and I kinda want to start a re-watch already.
The main reason is that it is a drama about adult people with adult jobs, and it’s also a crime drama where the investigation and murder mystery is as important as the main romance. So, you know – just a regular crime drama, only the main romance is m/m instead of m/f.
It’s about a good-hearted medical examiner Bun Bunnakit Songsakdina, who returns to a small town he grew up in to work in a provincial hospital, after many years spent in Bangkok. Soon he meets Tan Wiraphong Inkhamwiang - a teacher with a lot of secrets and with ties to a local gangster. Together they fight crime. :) Well, not really, but they join forces to solve the case when a young teacher Jane (who’s Bun’s friend and Tan’s colleague) is murdered. They also fall in love of course. :)
There is a lot to love about this drama – intense emotions and angst, an interesting criminal mystery, a lot of kisses, hot sex scene, and a lot of cute fluffy domestic scenes. There is also an adorable secondary couple of two teenage boys, which is basically a mini copy of the main couple. One is kind and sweet and sunny, and the other is a bad boy, who has been working for a gang since he was 14. And there is a hint of the third, also an adorable couple, in the last episode, between a very hot and conflicted police officer, who eventually did the right thing, and a young doctor who saved his life.
And when it comes to the main romance I like that it’s not just a few big kissing scenes and one sex scene. There’s also a lot of little displays of affection - hand holding, hugging, cuddling together on the couch, gentle forehead kisses, all those tiny things that show that those two people are in love.
I admit that I fell completely in love with Max Nattapol Diloknawarit (Tan) and Tul Pakorn Thanasrivanitchai (Bun). They’re both good actors, they have amazing chemistry and their kisses are passionate and hot. Here’s the proof in the form of tumblr post with gifs. I was so happy to find out that Max and Tul did a few other BL dramas together. And I plan to watch them all, starting with Together With Me.
Watching this drama made me interested in history of Thai names. This is such a fascinating subject to me. Here is one informative and funny article about it:
Thai Culture: Thai names explained, why are they so long and weird? by Anna Fhaumnuaypol
The drama is on youtube here and on WeTV here. I started to watch it on youtube. But youtube version has a few moments where there is no voice at all. It was irritating, so I moved to WeTV in the middle of the 2nd episode.
And now I’m going to read fanfic. There are 88 fics in English on AO3, so I hope I will find something good. :)

I wish the PRC weren't so... terribly fascist. Nobody is allowed to make more than one BL drama together, and it's making me sad.

I also watched the 1st episode of Together With Me yesterday, and wow, that first scene is very, very nice. I might have re-watched it twice at once. 😊 I liked it a lot – the scene and the whole episode and I’m excited to watch more today in the evening.
