I’m sick. It’s not covid this time, thankfully, only pharyngitis, but it kicked my ass. It started with a sore throat and a cold on Thursday and now it’s Thursday again, and I’m still feeling awful, because soon a horrible cough joined an array of other symptoms. I’m on antibiotics and on sick leave till the end of the week, but I don’t know if it won’t be even longer since my cough is still pretty bad. I could barely sleep the last two nights because of it.
So what I do is either lie in bed and suffer, or watch dramas to cheer myself up. :)
Not much luck with finding a new kdrama to watch, unfortunately. I watched half of the 1st episode of Hometown Cha Cha Cha – it was boring. I watched half of the 1st episode of Forecasting Love and Weather – it was boring and Song Kang really doesn’t work for me at all. I also watched the first 15 minutes of Business Proposal and the male lead was so annoying that I dropped it.
So I decided to continue my re-watching of Hot Stove League, because that drama is really good and heart-warming, and I can stare at my beloved’s beautiful face and admire his acting talent, which is always an excellent thing to do. :)
And apparently now I have the tradition of watching Bridgerton while I’m sick. I watched the 1st season while I had covid last year. Now I started the 2nd season on Monday and I already watched 6 episodes, I have only two left. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it since Anthony was the least interesting person in the 1st season for me, and this season is about his grand romance, but I do, surprisingly so. Anthony’s object of affection Kate Sharma, played beautifully by Simone Ashley, is a great character and she’s so gorgeous. I could stare at her for hours. :)
And I finished Under the Skin. I enjoyed it a lot. The longer review coming later after I recovered. For now here have the rec for a fanvid showing how very shippable Shen Yi and Du Cheng are. :)

I wish I had a good drama rec for you (for after Hot Stove League). Is there anything you're in the mood for?

- You're Beautiful -- aspiring nun goes undercover as her twin brother in a boy band (this was my first ever Kdrama; it's very silly and adorable)
- Mary Stayed Out All Night (aka Marry Me, Mary) -- a young woman's father tries to marry her off, so she fake-marries someone else and ends up married to both of them
- The Woman Who Wants to Marry (aka Still, Marry Me) -- three female friends and their contrasting love lives; starts off a little cringey, but totally worth it; great female friendships. (I wrote a little bit about the characters here)
- Witch's Romance -- sweet noona romance with a prickly female lead (I wrote up a review of it here)
Hope you find something (here or elsewhere) that takes your fancy. <3 <3 <3

Bridgerton did a great job considering Anthony is the least favourite for a lot of us.

I'm trying not to read any of the other comments in case anyone has something to say about Under the Skin (spoilerphobic is moi) and we're only 3 episodes in but really loving it. I'm going to bookmark that fanvid because I'm already seeing shades of that. :D
I've seen very few Kdramas so I fear I have no good recs for you. Doom at Your Service (staring at Seo In Guk, I'm shallow *g*) and Bride of the Water God were entertaining though not great by any means but both are M/F.

As for Kdramas - I tried Bride of the Water God some time ago and unfortunately I found the male lead annoying, so I dropped it after 3rd or 4th episode. But I haven't watched Doom at Your Service, and that guy is hot, so maybe I'll try this one next. :)

We usually manage about 5-6 episodes of something a week - not that much time to watch things together - but I look forward to it.
Bride of the Water God - I can see finding him annoying as I did too. I watched it because a mate wanted some company. He becomes somewhat less annoying but I actually found one of the other gods more interesting... Still, can't really rec it very strongly.
Doom at Your Service is bittersweet and sad in parts and it does have a quirky little take on religion and god I thought was interesting but Seo in Guk is definitely the main reason for watching. Another one of the Korean singers turned actor and he's great at both. :D

Hot Stove Leagues sounds like the perfect comfort kdrama, enjoy the rest of it (and Bridgerton)!

I have found Under the Skin on my own, (wow! how did that happen?) but haven't started watching it yet. But I've been watching way too many things I don't understand lately - I very much want to go back to Mandarin now.

Heh, I found it also not through my dreamwidth reading list, but because of some random comment somewhere that basically said it was good and short. And drama being short is quite a big selling point for me lately. I don't have patience to start 50 episodes long dramas lately. :)
