Crossover fanfic

Do you like crossover fics? I love them, but usually I have to know both canons to enjoy them. There are exceptions, but they are rare.

And since I like making lists here are the recs - my top 10 crossover fics, in no particular order.


Doctor Who/Community

Tea Time and Time Lords: A Primer by blithers

Characters: Tenth Doctor, everyone from the study group

Community’s study group in the Tardis – it’s as hilarious as it sounds.



Doctor Who/Gone with the Wind

The Yankee's Loot by Yahtzee

Rating: General Audiences
Category: gen
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Martha Jones, Scarlett O'Hara

Scarlett O'Hara in the Tardis – again very funny, but read the warning in the notes first.



Heroes/Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Rating: Mature
Category: M/M, M/F, F/F
Relationships: Sylar/Mohinder, Peter Petrelli/Buffy Summers (these are main pairings in this fic, other pairings are listed in the fic header on LJ)

This crossover merges Buffy’s Wishverse AU and Heroes’ Five Years Gone AU. It’s very dark and angsty – again read the warning in the notes first.




House/Constantine (the movie with Keanu Reeves, not the TV show from 2015)

Diagnosis: Demon by Tigertrapped

Rating: Mature
Category: M/M, but subtext only
Relationships: House/Chase, Constantine/some other guy from the movie

A lot of usual House snark with a lot Chase and Constantine whump.

This is one of the exceptions – I haven’t seen Constantine. But I osmosed enough about who the main hero was and what he did, and that was sufficient for reading and enjoying that fic.




Sherlock/Whitechapel

Sherlock/Hannibal

Relationships: Mycroft Holmes/Hannibal Lecter, Hannibal Lecter/Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes/Sherlock Holmes

Very dark and disturbing – heed the warnings on that one.

Another exception – I watched only 5 random Hannibal episodes from different seasons, but this is basically a Sherlock fic with Hannibal Lecter as a guest star, so it was enough.



Empire/LA Complex

Great crossover for two very small fandoms. Important warning: infidelity plays a big part in this fic.



Guardian/SCI Mystery

I recced this one before, but it is one of my favorite crossovers, so it belongs on this list. :)



And now two WIPs, that I'm sure will never be finished, but the chapters posted are still great IMO.



Heroes/The X-Files

Adorable, but also a bit angsty (in the parts about Chad Danforth/Ryan Evans relationship).

Crossovers? LOVE THEM. I enjoy them more if I know both canons involved but if I'm familiar enough with one of them, generally it's fine. Here, have some fics I have stored in my ao3 bookmarks.
