Moonlight Chicken is amazing. The last two episodes will air next week, and if they will stick the landing I will consider this drama one of the best BL dramas I’ve ever watched. It doesn’t even feel like BL, it feels like a regular drama about messy relationships, and those relationships just happen to be between two guys.

Episodes 5 and 6 were both very good.

Spoilers below.

Episode 5

Alan is a controlling and possessive jerk who has troubles letting go. It’s thanks to First’s acting talent that you still feel a little bit sorry for him. Ok yes, and because of First’s beauty, too, of course. He’s gorgeous. 😊

And I’m not blaming Wen exactly, but in a way he is a bit responsible for this messy situation, too. He agreed to live with Alan even after they broke up. We find out later from their argument that they even slept together once after they broke up. Wen says that he did it because he felt sorry for Alan. It’s clear he feels guilty that he was the one that fell out of love. But that only gave Alan hope that their relationship could be repaired.

And that talk between Alan and Jim about the pen that Jim took by accident from Alan’s desk, that isn’t about the pen, but about Wen:

Alan: “Hold on. That’s my pen.”

Jim: ”Sorry. I wasn’t aware that I took it.”

Alan (coldly): “That’s all right. Not that you are aware, just return what you took to me.”

And Heart and Li Ming are the sweetest boys and I want only good things for them.

And I want good things for Gaipa. He is so sweet, too. I wonder if they will be any hint for future Alan/Gaipa considering they are played by First and Khaotung, and they are the next big BL couple after The Eclipse.

Episode 6

Ouch, that was so angsty. But at least we got that lovely and sweet kiss between Heart and Li Ming.

And aww, poor Gaipa, he still had hope, despite everything, that Jim could love him someday in the future. And I don’t blame Jim at all for saying clearly ‘no’. But my heart broke with Gaipa’s heart. Poor sweet boy. And forget it, I really don’t want any Alan/Gaipa hints. Gaipa is too good for Alan.

I want a happy ending, I really do, for everyone (well maybe not for Alan, that jerk, I don’t care about his happy ending 😊). But I won’t be surprised if there isn’t one.

Again, not reading because I like to wait until everything has finished posting before starting.

That said, I'm finding the 'tone' of your posts very encouraging!
