Decreed by Fate
I finished it last week. And well, that last scene tells me that they really, really wanted to have the 2nd season. I don’t think the drama was popular so I don’t think they’ll get that. I wouldn’t mind, because it really was a short, sweet and mostly fluffy cdrama with a very strong OT3 subtext. I mean, it wasn’t perfect. The idea IMO was great, but the execution was a bit lacking. But I had so much fun watching this drama, so I would love to have more of that sweetness and fluffiness and subtext. 😊
And since I asked for a yearly IQIYI subscription as my Christmas gift I now have fun browsing their cdramas section and deliberating what to start watching next. I thought about Mysterious Lotus Casebook, but 40 episodes is too much for me now. I want something with 24 episodes max.
As for kdramas – I still have five episodes of My Dearest to watch, but I can’t motivate myself to watch them. Mainly because RL is stressful enough for me now, I don’t need an additional anxiety while watching dramas. So I think I’ll put My Dearest away for now and get back to it in a few weeks when RL hopefully quiets down and I’m hopefully feeling better.
But I started The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract – a kdrama about a noble woman from the 19th century Joseon, who after the tragic death of her newlywed husband, travels in time to present day Seoul, where of course she meets the guy who looks exactly like her dead husband. This is a much lighter drama than My Dearest, despite the angsty beginning. Well, at least for now, because the drama just started airing, there are four episodes available on VIKI for now, and I watched only the first two. But it has time travel, one of my favorite tropes, so I had to try it. And for now I like it.

More with spoilers behind the cut.
There is for instance that scene when our female lead Wen Ren Jing imagines her wedding day – when she’s getting married to both of our male leads at the same time. Or that scene when one of them Xi Shen is injured and the other male lead Lin Xie puts the ointment on the wounds on his chest. In reality Lin Xie is just slapping it carelessly, but in Wen Ren Jing’s imagination Lin Xie’s fingers caress Xi Shen’s naked chest slowly and seductively. And of course there is the last episode where Wen Ren Jing and Xi Shen, who’s the general of the South Kingdom, help their beloved, I mean, their best friend Lin Xie 😊, who is the general of the enemy country the North Kingdom, escape under the noses of both sides' spies. That was wonderful, that they all trusted each other so implicitly, that Lin Xie knew that Wen Ren Jing and Xi Shen would never betray him and vice versa. And since I asked for a yearly IQIYI subscription as my Christmas gift I now have fun browsing their cdramas section and deliberating what to start watching next.
