Spare Me Your Mercy

It’s a Thai BL drama adapted from the novel "Euthanasia" by Sammon. The same Sammon, who wrote Manner of Death novel. It’s about a police officer and a doctor who team up to solve the case of suspicious deaths of elderly patients (a police officer’s mother was one of the victims). A doctor is played by Tor Thanapob, whom I loved a lot as Khatha in Midnight Museum.

Amidst a Snowstorm of Love

It’s a new cdrama with Wu Lei. It looks good and I plan to watch it, but I’m waiting for all the episodes to be available on VIKI.


As for music I have an eclectic mix of Thai, Japanese and Korean songs to rec.

I'll Be There by GENIC

GENIC is a 7 member Japanese co-ed group, and I’ve been listening to them lately, because one of its members is Mashiko Atsuki aka Yoh from My Personal Weatherman, which I lately re-watched for the second, and probably not the last, time.


dOpamine by OnlyOneOf

I re-watched Bump Up Business last week, and somehow liked it so much more this time than when I watched it for the first time a few months ago. I was pretty meh on it then. It’s pretty low budget and feels rather rushed in the second half, since it has only 8 episodes, and each episode is only 15 minutes long.

But this re-watch made me fall into the rabbit hole of OnlyOneOf music (Nine is my bias, as the kids these days say 😊). dOpamine is their latest song.

Bump Up Business is a Korean BL about idol trainee Eden, who is paired with his older colleague Jihoon to form a duo. Managers decide that this duo will use Business Gay Performance as the concept to attract fans’ attention, but Eden and Jihoon fall in love for real, of course. Two main characters and four supporting characters are played by the members of OnlyOneOf.

I don’t know why I fell so hard after watching it for the 2nd time, but this time something clicked for me and I did. I want to write fanfic (I might have started writing already, whoops). Of course it’s another super tiny fandom, there are only 8 fics on AO3. But what can I do, the heart wants what it wants. 😊

I didn't know about GENIC (I don't know much about music in general), but I think it's really cool that they're a co-ed group. It's pretty rare, isn't it?

I was going to put Bump Up Business on my list, but I see it's already there. I need more time. *weeps*

From my limited knowledge of this type of music - yes co-ed groups are very rare. This is the first one I came across. And I think it's cool, too. :)

Spare Me Your Mercy looks like the type of BL I'm always looking for, a real mystery plot + BL, so thanks for posting about it!


OnlyOneOf have done some very BL-oriented music vids anyway so this seems like a logical development to me.

I really hope Spare Me Your Mercy will be available somewhere with English subs. I want to see Tor in a proper BL so much. :) But it's just a teaser trailer for now, so it will probably be a while before it starts airing.

Are they still claiming it happens in NY? Because it was filmed in Helsinki and the cab has Finnish plates. 😁

I peeked at the spoilers and apparently yes, they are in Helsinki. The places that appeared in the drama are even mentioned on the official Weibo account of Visit Finland. :)
