Filling two squares of Guardian bingo with one post

Let’s talk about plot bunnies first.

I never had problems with thinking up fic ideas. For myself that is, thinking up prompts for an exchange sign up is, as I found out lately, rather hard. :) Actually writing a fic in a different mater, since I am a slow writer (with some rare exceptions).

Here is what I currently have in my Guardian WIP folder.

Dark canon divergence AU, where Ye Zun won, alternating between two POVs – Shen Wei’s and Guo Changcheng’s. I got stalled, because Shen Wei is hardest for me to write. But I would like to come back to it one day.


Follow-up to “Brand new start” – it really wants to go in the Shen Wei/Ye Zun/Zhao Yunlan direction, but I don’t know if I want it to go that way, so I put it on a back burner for now.


Guardian/SCI crossover – it was supposed to be this iddy and super self-indulgent crossover with all my favorite pairings from both dramas, but it grew plot and now it’s actually a case fic with an OC villain. I have quite a lot of it written, but I think it needs to be at least 10 000 words before it’s finished. And I only wrote such long fics twice in my life and I think I forgot how to do that. :) And of course I keep abandoning it to write other much shorter plot bunnies.


There are also a few other started fics, where I have like one scene written. Amongst them Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng outsider POV fic – from POV of Guo Changcheng’s aunt, another canon divergence YOHE AU with redemption for Ye Zun, and a post canon Zhu Hong fic with Zhu Hong/Cheng Xinyan pairing.


Another square I filled is Longevity Dial square. And here is RL anecdote about how I did that.

I talked to my family a few times about this wonderful Chinese drama that I love, but without many details. I only told them that it’s based on a fantasy web novel, which due to censorship was turned into a science fiction show. So a few days ago my older niece (she’s 15) decided that she wanted to check it out and asked me to watch the 1st episode with her. When we came to that scene at the university when Shen Wei holds Zhao Yunlan’s hand for a little bit too long and gazes at him with such longing, she turned to me and said “They’re gay, aren’t they?” And when I confirmed that they were a couple in the novel, but couldn’t be in the drama, again because of censorship, she said “But it’s really obvious that they are gay and into each other.” :D So that’s my story about bonding with my niece over Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan. When we finished the episode she said it was ok, but I don’t know if she’s interested in watching more. :)

Aw, that's an adorable story! I love how you shared that with her, and hope she enjoys the rest of the show.

Heh, thanks. I hope she will watch at least a few more episodes. I tried to convince my younger niece (she's 12), to watch the 1st episode with us, but she declined, because she really doesn't like reading subtitles. :) It's a pity, because I know her tastes quite well and I think she would like it.

I'm really into twincest threesome lately, so that sequel fic will probably go in that direction despite my initial resistance. :D

Thanks. :) I hope my niece will watch more Guardian in the future. I would love to see her reaction to some of the scenes in later episodes.

It really is that obvious. I can never tell anymore because of my (and everyone else around here) slash goggles. But someone in my RL had that exact reaction, too, so, really it must be that obvious. I still don't know what the censors were doing on Guardian. :D

p.s.: I'd totally read the ye zun threesome, just sayin. A lot of people seem to be writing them lately, which is fine with me. :D

When I first read that people considered Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan to be canon, before I watch Guardian, I was sure that they were watching through slash googles and it couldn't be that obvious. But it is. And it is nice, but also amusing, to observe that reaction in RL.

And I'm also very glad that more people (including me) write that threesome. :)

Congratulations! Btw, how do you make the fulfilled squares green? Or any other colour?

Thanks. :) As for changing color - I edit JPEG file in GIMP, but I think any image editor is good for that. First I use Rectangle Selection to select a square and then I use Coloring function to change color for just that one selected square.
