Sunday was a good day, Monday not so much health wise. But I’m not going to complain about that and about work again, let’s just talk about good fannish things instead.
Yuletide is here again and I did have a moment of doubt if I should sign-up this year, but eventually I did and now I’m glad that I did. And I love my assignment. I had one possible recipient in fandom A and one in fandom B based on available letters (and both I knew I would be happy to get), and eventually someone from fandom C where there were two requests without visible letters. I got a person from fandom A, and I have one good idea already, and I’m excited to start writing.
As for drama watching things are good, too. I’m on the lookout for a new Kdrama to watch since One Thousand Won Lawyer is ending soon. There are only three episodes left. The amount of the episodes was reduced from 14 to 12. People are speculating that it’s either some secret drama behind the scenes or that they already know they will get the 2nd season. I really hope it’s the latter.
I want to try Little Women with Kim Go Eun. It’s very loosely based on Louisa May Alcott’s "Little Women". But I’m waiting for all the episodes to become available on Netflix.
And in the meantime I watched the 1st episode of The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim, because I was very impressed with Nam Da Reum as young Han Ji Pyung in Start-Up and wanted to see him in a major role. It’s entertaining and cute, so I will watch a few more episodes for sure. The drama is on VIKI and it’s short – only 12 episodes, and each episode is only 25 minutes long.
One Thousand Won Lawyer episode 9
Spoilers below.
Thankfully the drama dialed down the angst and in episode 9 went back to making me laugh again instead of making me cry. And they went meta with product placement. I love when Kdramas do that.
And I love a lot of things about this drama, but today I want to say that I’m very impressed with what they did with Seo Min Hyeok – the prosecutor, who sometimes appears as Ji Hun’s adversary in court. I love that he’s introduced as this serious antagonist and maybe even a conceited jerk, and then he turns out to be such a lovable dork, who has a hopeless crush on Mari now, but who clearly had a hopeless crush on his Sunbae Ji Hun in the past, who loves children, and who loves his dad. And he is a hard-worker and very supportive of his single mom boss. It’s kind of an unusual character for a Kdrama, I can’t recall now if I ever saw a character like that in any Kdrama I watched.
The Eclipse episode 11
After 10 good episodes that one was disappointing and weird. And I blame it entirely on bad writing. There is a chance that they will fix at least some things that disappointed me in the last episode. And if not, oh well, I can still enjoy the previous 10 episodes. I know that sometimes a bad finale can retroactively ruin the whole show for some people, but I’m not one of them.
Minor spoilers below.
When GMMTV puts their dramas on youtube they divide each episode into four parts. And here it really felt as if here there was one part missing between parts 3 and 4. Everybody is angry and hurting and feeling betrayed in part 3, and then in part 4 everything is fine, and they are all talking to each other as if nothing horrible happened in the previous part.
Maybe there will show flashbacks that will have an explanation in the last episode, dramas do that sometimes, but if not that was a really weird choice. I still love the drama, one weird choice in screenplay writing and editing can’t destroy that. And of course I did love Kan/Thua scene where Kan publicly announces that he and Thua are now boyfriends. They were both so adorable. And good for you, Kan. You’re the best, you grew so much, and I love you. ♥
Interview with the Vampire episode 5
Spoilers here, too.
That was intense and a little bit hard to watch. But it was good. So much angst and drama and blood.
They really go hard on making Lestat/Louis an abusive and toxic relationship. But also that main fight between Lestat and Louis, or rather Lestat beating Louis to a pulp - it’s Daniel reading about it in Claudia’s diary. And this show is all about an unreliable narrator. I’m not saying this because Lestat would never. Lestat absolutely would, but it looks to me as maybe not everything is as it seems. We have two more episodes in the 1st season, so I guess soon we’ll see if I’m right.
And now I’m going to browse through Yuletide requests because they are now visible. I already bookmarked 4 letters, let’s see if I’ll find more interesting prompts. No way there are 4 treats happening of course, but I hope at least one will. :)

Most of the people I know who signed up for Yuletide seem to be very happy with their assignment.
I'm surprised by just how many things I love are due to get fic this YT so I think I'll have a lot more to read than usual. \o/

Yes, me, too. There are so many great requests for fandoms that I know and love. If at least half of them gets written I will be a happy reader on reveals day. :)

I liked Daniel telling Louis that, “once it’s out there, they decide what it means.” Louis might be powerful but he seems kind of naive when it comes to human fanaticism. Which I find weird, given that he’s endured racism and hatred his entire existence, and no amount of “context” or education has ever been able that change that.
He doesn’t seem worried about vampire fanaticism, though. As Rashid tells Daniel, “You’re chronicling a suicide.” Louis knows very well that other vampires will come for him but he doesn’t seem worried. I wonder if that’s because he’s truly tired of his existence, or whether he has some others on his side who are powerful enough to protect him from the mob. He can set stuff on fire with his mind, after all.
And speaking of power, OMG LOUIS CONTROLLING DANIEL’s PARKINSONS TREMORS WITH HIS BRAIN. That slap Daniel gave him was totally deserved.
They also really showcased Lestat’s power in this episode. Until now, I had no idea he could fly. I guess I should have picked up on the foreshadowing during the naked levitation scene in Ep. 1 but I got distracted by the naked part. (Ahem.) Hands up if you think Lestat mind-controlled Paul into killing himself during the family dinner in Ep. 1. *hands*
The special effects of Lestat and Louis in the sky were pretty bad. Obviously that’s not where the show’s budget goes. But I’m okay with that.
Hahahahahaha Daniel gets the best lines! “I’m trying to think of something more fucked up than this,” as he reads Claudia’s kill list - while at the same time Rashid sits on Louis’ lap AT THE DINING ROOM TABLE IN FRONT OF DANIEL and offers up his neck. Not gonna lie, that scene was pretty hot. And I went a bit weak in the knees when Louis called him “My Rashid.”

Yes, I really loved that sentence, too. And you're right that Daniel gets a lot of best lines in the show. I like him a lot and that is such a pleasant surprise for me, since based on trailers I was a bit doubtful that I would. And that slap... Yes, Louis deserved it.
And oh yeah, that scene with Rashid was hot. Rashid is an enigma for me now (I saw people speculating that he could be Armand, but I don't really like that idea, because why would Armand pretend like that?), but the actor is very pretty and I love to look at him, especially when he has his blood sucked sexily. :D
