It’s still too hot here. But yesterday was Only Friends day, and I have a lot of other dramas to watch, too. 😊
Heartbeat episodes 15-16
Well, that was disappointing. I feel like the drama promised me one thing and then delivered something completely opposite. I really enjoyed the first ten episodes and then it went downhill all the way to the end. Let me quote Dramabeans’s review of the last two episodes, because this is exactly what I think, too.
What initially started out as an innovative romp eventually devolved into a predictable trudge weighed down by its un-subverted tropes. It had the potential to craft innovative solutions for its mystical problems, but instead we got glossed-over plot threads and cliché scripts.
Spoilers behind the cut.
I wanted them to work together to find a solution to the problem. Not just In Hae and Woo Hyeol, but Woo Hyeol’s little gang, too. I was convinced that what the plot in the second half of the drama would be. Instead everyone just passively accept that Woo Hyeol is going to die soon. And we got In Hae being the reincarnation of Woo Hyeol’s first love after all, so the trope I don’t like and I really believed the drama would subvert. And then we got Woo Hyeol sacrificing himself nobly, which I actually started to suspect they would do based on the grimness of the last five episodes, but still hoped I would be wrong about that. And this is the trope that I do like, just not in a cheerful, fluffy and funny rom-com, which was exactly what Heartbeat presented itself as for the first ten episodes.
I Feel You Linger in the Air episode 1
It’s about Jom, who’s an architect, and who’s waiting for his boyfriend to return from his studies abroad after two years they spent apart. But then he finds out that his boyfriend cheated on him. Heartbroken Jom gets drunk and has an accident as he runs his car into the river. He loses consciousness as he almost drowns, but then he wakes up in 1920s Chiang Mai.
As you see this BL drama has time travel, so of course I had to check it out. And it’s ok, I guess. Nothing special for now, but interesting enough that I want to watch at least the next episode.
Dangerous Romance episode 1
Chimon is great. I already like his character Sailom a lot. But Kang is a much harder sell for me. Perth is very pretty, but his character is just an ordinary rich and arrogant school bully. And that kind of character is super boring to me, even with hidden vulnerability and daddy issues. But I’m willing to give this drama a chance, because of Sailom. He’s smart, resourceful and he doesn’t let Kang walk all over him. And that’s a big plus in my book. And yes, another reason is that I want to have something to watch on Friday evenings when I’m waiting impatiently for Saturday and the next episode of Only Friends. 😊
Only Friends episode 2
That was again wonderful and I loved it so much.
Read more with spoilers.
Nick is already so into Boston. And Boston will break his heart into tiny little pieces.
And Sand’s heart melted after one look from Ray’s sad, seductive pretty eyes. Well, fine, my heart did, too. Khao absolutely sold Ray to me in this episode. Now I’m invested and want him to be happy, ok? 😊
And everything about Top and Mew makes me vibrate with excitement. Of course Top has childhood trauma. I mean, if that story he tells Mew is true. I think it’s true, but I can’t help but be a little suspicious anyway. And poor, poor Mew with his checklist... For now he has Top wrapped around his little finger. He thinks he’s in control. He’s convinced that he is Top’s weakness. But he will have rude awakening very soon.
And I am a big ForceBook fan, but Force and Neo are so hot together, damn... And since Top and Boston’s first time was in a photo booth, so that scene in the car from the trailer is definitely from the future, and will probably happen in the next episode.
And we finally met Chuem’s girlfriend April. She’s cool, and they look adorable together. Although Chuem’s part in the drama for now seems to be an enthusiastic Top/Mew shipper, and nothing else. I hope it will change soon and Chuem and April will get their own subplot.
