Work is exhausting, physically and mentally. It should get better next week, and I want to take a few days of leave in the second half of May. And for now I cope by watching a lot of shows.

I finished Descendants of the Sun a few days ago. In general I liked it, but the last two episodes were kinda disappointing.

Spoilers here )

I also finished a re-watch of the 4th and the 5th season of Legends of Tomorrow yesterday, just in time for the 1st episode of the 6th season to air. Which I watched today morning and it was wonderful. And to my surprise this time I’m really into John Constantine/Zari Tarazi. Their scenes in the new episode were lovely and gave me a lot of shippy feelings. I even read a few fics and I’ve got one rec:

And Call It Home (2162 words) by little_librarian

Summary: Slowly, Zari moves more and more of her things into John’s bedroom. She’s so caught up in finding Sara that she doesn’t think much of it until Lita asks to borrow a phone charger—when Zari says there’s a spare on her shelf, Lita heads straight to John’s room.

And I started History 4 Close to You on Saturday. But, after watching 4 episodes, I have nothing good to say about this drama. I’m so disappointed, I really hoped that I would like it somehow.

Venting with spoilers behind the cut.

And while I wait for Vincenzo to appear on Netflix here (on May the 9th), I was looking for a Chinese drama to watch for a change and I watched two episodes of Joy of Life. Mainly because I really loved Zhang Ruoyun in Medical Examiner Dr. Qin and I wanted to see him in something else. And it’s ok, I guess. I wasn’t instantly smitten, but I enjoyed it enough to want to watch at least a few more episodes.

I’m working from home today. I don’t have access here to all the files and programs I need for the full time work, and I’m going to the office on Monday. So right now I don’t really have to do much more than checking my business e-mail in case my boss needs something from me.

So let’s talk about other, more pleasurable things.

Fanvid recs:

Shen Wei vid “Traitor, Our Doom” by [personal profile] extrapenguin

This is a wonderful vid which shows Shen Wei from the POV of someone who thinks that Black Cloaked Envoy is a traitor betraying Dixing.

It introduced me to Sirenia. I never heard of that band before and I already love it. I have listened to the full version of Fifth Column at least 5 times since yesterday.

The Witcher fanvid by voordeel - the devil and the huntsman

They are an amazing artist. I loved a lot of their other vids, especially Black Sails ones. And this one is fantastic, too.

What I’m watching:

Crash Landing On You – it’s a Korean drama about a South Korean heiress crash landing in North Korea due to a paragliding accident during the storm. She meets a North Korean captain, who after some initial resistance starts to help her. And of course they fall in love.

Main female character is played by Son Ye-jin, whom I loved in Something in the Rain. The main actor is good, too and they have nice chemistry.

I’m up to episode 4 and for now I really enjoy it. It has a right mix of comedy and drama and action. I have one reservation. For now it doesn’t spoil the fun for me, but it means that at times I just have to turn off thinking for a scene or two. And my reservation is this - I’m not saying that the drama glamorizes North Korea exactly, but it mostly shows that country as this peaceful place populated by nice and friendly people (with only some bad apples in the mix), who sometimes have to deal with some inconveniences, like for instance the light getting turned off in the evening, without warning and without knowing when it will be turn on again. After all people can just light some candles and isn’t it so charmingly old fashioned? From someone who lived under the communist regime and had to deal with things like that – no, no, it isn’t. It’s just pain in the ass.

You Are The Miracle – a new drama with Ji Xiaobing. I watched the first two episodes, but I don’t know if I will watch more. It’s boring, main female character is rather bland and even Ji Xiaobing’s character doesn’t interest me much.

The Untamed – I’m up to episode 12. I enjoy it and it’s always a pleasure to look at Lan Zhan’s beautiful face. But I admit I’m not really interested in the plot, so I watch only one or two episodes a week.

Guardian – I re-watch some episodes in preparation for writing my Chu Shuzhi post for [community profile] sid_guardian

Legends of Tomorrow – I can always count on that show to make me laugh. Spoilers for the 8th episode here )

Other things:

I write quite a lot, which is great. And I plan to post a few more Guo Changcheng/Chu Shuzhi recs in [community profile] merit_brush_recs.

And I got my last Make Our Days Count fic from my beta-reader, so I edited it and posted it today.

I have such a “my writing is bad” phase. It happens very rarely to me, but it’s so annoying. Because I have the first draft of my new Guardian fic finished and I can’t motivate myself to work on it. Grrrrr....

Ah, well, let’s talk about happy fannish things instead.

Legends of Tomorrow midseason trailer

It’s amazing and I can’t wait.

Something In The Rain

9 episodes watched. It continues to be an absolute delight. Both “I love you” scenes were super adorable, and I almost cried with Joon-hee when he was listening to Jin-ah’s message. And Jung Hae In’s beautiful smile lights up the screen. Every time he smiles I smile, too. :)

HIStory 3 Trapped

I’m kind off interested in this new Taiwan BL drama.

Summary:

A police officer and a gang leader were killed in gunshot attack. What's the secret behind this case? The only survivor, Tang Yi, is now the gang leader. He's striving to find the murderer by setting a trap... but the police officer, Meng Shao Fei, who has a sense of justice, gradually falls into the "love trap" set by Tang Yi.

It sounds like fanfic, in a good way. :) It looks like it, too. The trailer (not subbed) is on facebook here.
