RL still sucks, mainly because of many and varied health problems. Thankfully my mom is feeling well at least. I always joke that fortunately we switch when it comes to being not well, so she’s fine when I’m not and vice versa. 😊

And it would be great if fandom was the respite from all that, and it still is, but everything that happens with the OTW right now is also very depressing.

Still there are good things and I’m going to write about them now.


Nothing But You

I finished it a week ago. It was wonderful and very satisfying. Out of 38 episodes I only had a few very, very minor complaints about this drama.

What I loved the most of course was our beautiful and talented leads. It was a pure joy to watch Song Sangchuan and Liang You’an meet and fall in love and start being a couple. I love that they are always so supportive of each other, and that they talk when they have a problem.

“From the day we met each other till now, we have become a better version of ourselves because of the other person.”

And here are some of my other favorite scenes from the drama.

When You’an’s boss fired her in such a horrible way for something that wasn’t her fault at all. And then Sangchaun was there telling her “walk out with your head held high. I’m here with you.”

When they finally kissed for the first time.

When Jiaojiao stopped being a spoiled rich jerk and became Sangchuan’s best friend. And when he realized that Sangchuan had feelings for You’an he instantly became the best wingman ever.

When Sangchuan called his stepfather An Cong “dad” for the first time. I admit freely that I did cry then. It was such a beautiful scene that felt so gratifying to watch. Because An Cong was always a great father to Sangchuan and it was so satisfying to see Sangchuan acknowledge that.

And when Liang Tao call You’an “Jiejie” for the first time. I love the way their relationship changed through the drama.

There were really so many wonderful relationships here besides our main couple. Like for instance our third couple – tennis couch Zhang Yan and You’an’s best friend Luo Nian. I loved them a lot, even though their relationship mostly developed in the background.

Wu Lei will have a new drama called Amidst a Snowstorm of Love. He’s a professional billiards player in this one. And the female lead is played by Zhao Jinmai. I love her, she was great in Reset.

Here is the first trailer. There are no English subs though, but still it looks interesting and the leads look good together.


Our Dining Table

9 episodes out of 10 aired already. It’s very good, very sweet and very optimistic. And Inukai Atsuhiro is as always wonderful. And the child actor is surprisingly good and super cute.

I also found one person on tumblr who writes very interesting translator notes about subtitles for this drama. And since they aren’t pleased with official subtitles they make their own and post them with raw episodes on their tumblr. So if you can’t pay for GagaOOLala you can find downloads of all the episodes with subs here.

It’s a supernatural romance. As it is a movie not a drama, I hope it will still be made available for the international audience somewhere.


Trailer pilot for For Him

It’s another BL drama about a romance that starts as a one-night stand. It looks entertaining, no idea when it will air though.

I still haven’t watched the last episode of The Secret Romantic Guesthouse because I can’t tear myself away from Nothing But You, which is a constant source of joy and happiness and squee. I don’t know how that drama manages to do everything right for me, but somehow it does. At least it did for the 22 episodes I watched already.

Well, ok, I did tear myself away to watch Our Skyy 2: My School President, and it was the Multiverse of Cuteness indeed (that’s what they called it: The Multiverse of Cuteness 😊), and it made me laugh a lot.


Home School (the Thai drama about a creepy boarding school with Gun Atthaphan) has finished filming. People are saying that it may start airing in June. I hope it will, I can’t wait to watch it.

Woo Do Hwan’s new drama Bloodhounds.

It’s a noir action drama. It premiers on Netflix on June the 9th. I haven’t watch Joseon Attorney: A Morality yet, which is the first drama Woo Do Hwan did after he was discharged from military service. And I will one day. But that one looks more interesting to me. And it’s shorter. 😊

After the first teaser I thought that would be a serious drama, but the second teaser makes it look like a vampire rom-com. But still Taecyeon as a vampire? Sign me up. Dark or comedic – I don’t care. 😊 It premiers on June the 26th. Hopefully it will be on VIKI.

Spoilers for the 10th episode, with two gifs (both a bit NSFW).

My fluffy feelgood drama got seriously dark for a while there. I feel like it’s a bit too dark for a show like this one. Also lately I got used to understanding and supporting mothers in BL dramas, and mothers here are mostly horrible people. Gun’s mother is like an evil parent from a soap opera being all “stop seeing my son or else”. And Tian’s mother is horrible in too realistic way I didn’t sign up for when I started watching this drama. But ok, we’ll see how they will deal with it. And I’m perfectly fine with them spending as little time as possible on this subplot in the last two episodes. Just give me my adorable boyfriends being adorable and sweet and sexy.

Our Skyy 2: The Eclipse

The first part was a bit boring to me (apart from Kan/Thua scenes), but the second was cute and sweet and I loved it. And, surprisingly for me, it was a straightforward sequel to the drama, with no fantasy elements like body swap or time travel at all.

It’s Vice Versa episodes the next week, so I won’t be watching, but it will be My School President after that. I can’t wait to see Tinn and Gun and the rest of the gang again.


The Secret Romantic Guesthouse

Spoilers here, too.

If they’ll kill Shi Yeol I will cry and cry. He’s my favorite, so please don’t do it, show, please. And based on the trailer there will be so much angst in the next episode, because Heung Jo will finally find out that Shi Yeol killed her fiancé eight years ago. Right now I really can’t see the happy ending for the both of them. I hope I’m wrong.

Nothing But You

It’s a Chinese drama about an age gap romance – older woman/younger man. I started watching it because I saw it described once as warm and cozy, but a bit boring. I ignored ‘boring’ and jumped on ‘warm and cozy’, because that’s what I like to watch right now. And after watching 4 episodes in two days I think you can safely say that I like it a lot. 😊

And it’s not even really that cozy for now, there’s angst and conflict, although nothing over the top, these are all realistic, everyday problems and complications. But I already care for our two main leads played so beautifully by Wu Lei (I think I’ll watch Love Like The Galaxy next for him) and Zhou Yutong.

Liang You’an is a 32 years old executive assistant to an important department head. She’s very good at her job, but she feels stuck in her current position. Her dream of promotion and transfer to another department dies down, because she made herself be so indispensable to her boss, that he doesn’t want to let her go and refuses to sign the transfer form for her.

Song Sanchuan is a 22 years old badminton player, who is going through a traumatic period in his life and that influences his performance on the court. They meet by chance, are instantly intrigued by one another, and then Song Sanchuan helps Liang You’an with a problem she has at work. And things start developing from there.

There are 38 episodes, so even with two episodes a day I’ll have something nice to watch for at least the next two weeks. 😊

The Secret Romantic Guesthouse

My loyalty kink is very well served by this drama. And my “kneeling to show loyalty” kink. This scene from episode 10 is like made especially for my id. Do you remember that scene from Guardian when Chu Shuzhi kneels before Black Cloaked Envoy? This is the scene like that one. No wonder I love it. 😊


Island

I finally watched more episodes of Kim Nam Gil’s new drama Island, after watching the first two episodes back in January. And I find it disappointingly mediocre. Kim Nam Gil is good and he looks beautiful dressed in black and being all angsty and tortured. But the rest is rather meh for me. The female lead makes me yawn, I don’t see any chemistry between her and Kim Nam Gil. And Cha Eun Woo is so pretty, but also not very good at acting here. Which is a bit surprising to me because the only other drama I saw him in was Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung and I liked him a lot there.

I still have five more episodes to watch and I will watch them for Kim Nam Gil. But I’m so disappointed that it’s not good.


One Thousand Won Lawyer

Nam Goong Min had a cameo as his character from One Thousand Won Lawyer in the 2nd season of Taxi Driver with Lee Je Hoon.

Here is the whole scene. It’s very funny, and it gave me craving to see both these wonderful actors in one drama. Please, make it so. 😊

A Boss And A Babe

It is still my perfect comfort show. I don’t read any reviews, because I gathered that it was not very popular, and I don’t want to hear anything bad about it. I love it to pieces and I can’t wait for the next episode. And I’m so happy there will be two additional episodes as the part of Our Skyy 2.


Our Skyy 2: Never Let Me Go

It was cute and entertaining, but nothing special. This week episodes for Star in My Mind air, and I’m not watching, because this is one of the two dramas from Our Skyy 2 that I haven’t seen. But I will be watching the next week, because it’s The Eclipse time. It’s mainly about Akk and Ayan, of course, but Kan and Thua will be there, too. Yay!


Our Dining Table

I was supposed to wait until all of it aired, but I got impatient and damn, now I have another drama that I love and that I have to wait each week for a new episode. Because it’s so adorable and warm and cozy and sweet. And I love everything about it. And Inukai Atsuhiro is wonderful as always. It reminds a bit of Old Fashioned Cupcake, in the sense that it’s also “food as a love language” drama.

It’s available on GagOOLala, three episodes aired for now.

Midnight Museum

The last two episodes aired this week. And what a weird and confusing, but at the same time very entertaining drama it was. It’s like TPTB decided to just throw everything in one big pot: time travel, magic, immortals, manipulative gods and/or aliens, multiple alternate universes, cursed artifacts. Then added great actors and a lot of homoerotic tension between the two leads, and stirred. And voila you have Midnight Museum.

I enjoyed it a lot and I hope there will be the 2nd season. The ending is open enough for that, so it seems the creators do hope for another season, too. And what a playground for post-canon fanfic. I hope there will be a lot of fics.

Crash Course in Romance finished airing here on Netflix a few weeks ago, but I still haven’t gotten around to watching it. Instead, since I was in the mood for sageuk, I started The Secret Romantic Guesthouse on VIKI. And I like it a lot. But it’s an ongoing drama and for now only 6 episodes are available, and I already watched three.

Episode 6 reminded me how much I like Nanon. He’s a fantastic actor and my second favorite Thai actor, after Gun. That episode left me with the desire to watch something again where he’s the lead. So first I tried Dirty Laundry, but I managed only the first episode. There was too much slapstick humor for me. Then I started UMG. It means Unidentified Mysterious Girlfriend. It’s a sci-fi drama. Nanon plays Mew, who’s only friend and first love Erng disappeared one day suddenly, and her body was never found. Mew kept pining for years, believing that she would return one day. But when 10 years later he’s finally ready to move on Erng comes back unexpectedly, but there something different about her, something unworldly.

I watched two available episodes and I like it. Erng is played by Milk (Ink from Bad Buddy) and her and Nanon together in one drama reminded me how much I loved Bad Buddy. I think I’ll re-watch it in a near future. After I’m done with my re-watch of A Tale of Thousands Stars. Which I started because I watched Moonlight Chicken again last week and it made me want to watch something else with EarthMix. I tried Cupid’s Last Wish, but here I managed only half of the 1st episode. It’s pretty bad IMO, and even Earth and Mix’s chemistry couldn’t salvage it for me.



On the fanfic writing front – I managed to find time to edit my new Big Dragon fic. I finished the first draft almost a month ago, right before RL decided to beat me up a little. But now it’s done and I can concentrate on writing my first Never Let Me Go fic.



Last but not least – a very god news: Ben Daniels will join the 2nd season of Interview With The Vampire as Santiago. Yay!

And I have to say that I really like this new wave of Thai BL dramas that care about consent, and put heartfelt massages about marriage equality and LGBTQ rights into their stories. And I haven’t heard the dialogue of the type: “So you like guys?”, “I don’t like guys, I only like him” for a long time. Now characters openly declare that they are gay or bisexual. Or if they don’t use these exact words they say that they like men, or that gender doesn’t matter for them.


Never Let Me Go

I finished it and I loved it. Loyalty kink was off the charts, and there was a lovely happy ending. Of course this is another small fandom, because that’s what I seem to fall in love with these days. There are around 70 fics on AO3, and I already read everything that appealed to me at least twice. I also might have started writing a fic. 😊

One last thought - it feels like it’s the age of understanding and supportive mothers in Thai BL. Apart from Nueng and Palm’s mothers in Never Let Me Go, there are Tinn and Gun’s moms in My School President, and Mangkorn’s mom in Big Dragon. You can count Pran’s mother in Bad Buddy, too, I think. She isn’t opposed to her son dating a guy, she’s opposed to that guy being Pat. 😊

My wish of spending the week buried under the warm blanket was fulfilled. Just not in the way I wanted. Because I’m sick. It’s just a common cold, but a mean one. My head hurts and my back hurts, and I spent the last two days mostly sleeping. Thankfully it is a bit better today.

Besides sleeping I watched the first two episodes of Midnight Museum. And I love it.

It’s creepy, but not too much. There are a few jump scares, but nothing too frightening IMO. Gun is so beautiful and so good, as always. And it’s super slashy.

The trailer for Gun Atthaphan’s new drama Midnight Museum.

It’s a supernatural drama (not BL) about down on his luck barista Dome played by Gun, who receives the unexcepted job offer at the creepy museum that opens only after sunset.

I plan to watch it. It looks good and I’m sure that Gun will be excellent as always. It starts airing on March the 6th.


And I did start watching the Thai BL drama My School President. I’ve watched three episodes for now, and I laughed a lot and made a lot of aww noises. If you’re looking for a sweet and cute, and uncomplicated high school romance with a good script and great acting by two adorable leads, I already recommend it.

And here is my drama watching report.


I’m waiting for Crash Course in Romance to finish airing on Netflix before I start it. All the opinion I’ve seen are very positive, and I really hope I will like it, too.


I’m up to 19th episode od A League on Nobleman and I enjoy it so much. It’s so entertaining and slashy, and I adore Lan Jue, because he’s like tailor-made for my id. For me this drama is in the same vein as those other slashy historical crime cdramas I watched and enjoyed like Ancient Detective and The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty. There are a few fics on AO3 already, but I hope there will be more.


I finished GAP the Series, and the finale was lovely and cute. I’m so glad that this drama did so well, and was so popular. Because hopefully it means that there will be more Thai GL dramas in the future.


In contrast I’m pretty disappointed with the second half of History 5. I enjoyed the first five episodes so much, and then the plot went in the direction I found boring and stupid, and not in the entertaining way. I watched only half of the 8th episode and I got so bored that I decided to stop and wait until the last two episodes air. Maybe they will be better, and if not I’ll fast-forward through them to see if my favorite secondary couple got a happy ending.


I also watched the four available episodes of Thai BL drama Moonlight Chicken. I like it a lot, it’s good. With so many good actors, too (and they put First in glasses and he looks beautiful 😊). And it’s about complicated and messy relationships, and adult people with adult jobs and adult problems, which is always a big plus for me.

But surprisingly I also really enjoy the secondary couple of two high schoolers who have an antagonists-to-lovers romance. The actors Gemini and Fourth are so adorable and sweet together. But also – oh God, they are such babies. They are both only 18 years old. But they’re both very good, and now I’m tempted to watch My School President where they are leads. People are raving about this drama, but I wasn’t interested before because it’s a straightforward high school BL, and I rarely watch those.
